The last few weeks staff have been busy behind the scenes with our own "Clean Sweep" style project! We've been in this building for 12 years now, and the time was long overdue to clean, cull and reorganize our spaces. We hauled out items from every nook and cranny of the museum (except artifact storage of course!), did a deep clean of each area, and then changed up which storage spaces & work areas were going to be most useful for which materials moving forward. Luckily, we have just opened bookings for our brand new Virtual Snuneymuxw Traditional Life program similar to the program you know and love, but adapted for Microsoft Teams or Zoom! The 30-minute interactive program will keep students engaged and moving while learning about the tools used by the Snuneymuxw First Nation and other Coast Salish Nations to make canoes, longhouses, and blankets. A combination of pictures, li...ve close-ups of cultural belongings and video tours of the museum’s gallery create a varied and fast-paced virtual program. Snuneymuxw Traditional Life meets provincial Social Studies curriculum for grade 3 and is also appropriate for grades 4-5. The new program costs $30 per class, and is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays weekly, between the hours of 10 and 2:30.
