Our team of Rotarians and volunteers (although fewer because of the pandemic’s and personal restrictions) continue to go in early and prepare breakfast for the scores of homeless and working poor in our city’s downtown. Now, instead of serving in the Salvation Army’s dining area, we prepare to go boxes which are handed out via their mobile Emergency Services truck . This month we also handed out a pair of socks to each client. A large box of donated socks was also delivered to Island Crisis Care Society for distribution via their shelters and supportive housing. Yesterday we were back at the Salvation Army's New Hope Centre providing a cooked breakfast to those who needed it most - primarily folks on the street. A total of 14 volunteers over 3.5 hours helped to cook, package and serve pancakes, sausages, eggs, and toast. Due to COVID 19 protocols we had to serve in take-out containers via the food service truck outside the building.

Only two countries continue to report wild polio cases: Afghanistan and Pakistan. This #WorldPolioDay learn why @Rotary believes we can shrink that number to zero: endpol.io/5rsns

Food Bank service project continues! Once protocols had been established for volunteers at the Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank we re-commenced our monthly shifts. We are only allowed up to 8 volunteers, socially distanced and masked, so it's a different experience, but non-the-less rewarding. On Sep29th, just 5 of us (Bill McK, Barney, Rob, Sheila, and Bill G) worked the shift and managed to sort three pallets of dry goods!

Zooming right along! We're alive, doing well, meeting and sharing great ideas about Rotary projects and programs that can/and will make a difference.
