Happy National Child Day! It’s also hot lunch day at Tenderfoot. We had bananas, tangerines and grapes for morning snacks; pizza, chicken wings, and cucumbers for lunch; yogurt and goldfish for afternoon snacks. Rumor has it that there might be an extra treat, too. Shhh...
Tenderfoot Remembers. A big thank-you to all of the Tenderfooters who painted their poppies and helped make the wreath. Summer and Mike delivered the wreath to the cenotaph last night to pay respect to those who helped define our freedom.
Happy Birthday, N! Thanks for the yummy cupcakes!
We went on a Halloween parade this morning! Thank you to W’s mom and her friend who generously gave out candies at the mall. On the way back to daycare, we stopped and checked out a couple of haunted houses in the neighborhood. It was definitely a different Halloween as we didn’t go in any shops or yards to do trick-or-treating. Nevertheless, we managed to have as much fun as we could!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
Thank you B & E for the yummy treats!
We provide care for children from 18 months to 5 years of age! Tenderfoot is a licensed multiage childcare centre. Our licence number is TMGN-ABKPVE. We are located in the Harewood/Old City Quarter area and our work-friendly hours are 7:30am-5:30pm. We offer rich and personalized learning experiences including arts, songs, rhymes, early literacy, weekly inquiries, and kinder prep. Our practice is guided by the BC Early Learning Framework. We play outside everyday, rain or shi...ne. We take skating lessons at NIC, swimming lessons at Kin Pool, and gymnastics lessons at Flipside Gymnastics. A monthly hot lunch and field trip are also part of our program. Please private message Tenderfoot FB page or send an email to [email protected] for further information. We look forward to hearing from you.

The simple joys of everyday life
The weather hasnt been as nice as we had hoped and we are way past the planting season this year. But the world is telling us to slow down and respectfully live and learn together. We noticed the children quite enjoyed helping around the garden last year. For this reason, we chose to inquire about beans when we reopened Tenderfoot. After placing bean seeds in the cups, we read Lima Bean Life Cycle last week and this week we explored the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. Whe...n asked what what they thought would happen to their beans, the children replied, Seeds will become beans. They smell like watermelon The colour is camouflage They are going to be yummy Mine are going to grow into tiny tomato stalks My beans are going to grow really tall like the beanstalk We hope to extend this experience and invite collaborative dialogue from the children and their families as the beans grow
Its so nice to have you guys back!
It seems like our local Leprechaun is a bit of a slippery fish. While we didnt catch him this St. Paddys - there is always next year. At least this tippling trickster was kind enough to leave behind a wee bit o treasure!
We set up our trap in a sneaky spot. Are we going to catch a leprechaun this year?
Happy St. Patricks Day, everyone!
Make you own sandwich day! We had banana, tangerine, and grapes for morning snacks; peanut butter & jelly sandwich (with honey), cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, salami, pepperoni, ham, and cheese for lunch; yogurt tube and a cookie for afternoon snacks. It was a good day!
Be a buddy, not a bully! #PinkShirtDay
Thank you Jamie for coming to Tenderfoot today! We managed to use all of our five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. We also learned the word prediction which means to make a scientific guess. Parents please ask your child to waft, and you will see some pretty adorable movement!
We read different versions of Little Red Riding Hood throughout the week. Our friends were very excited testing their scissors skills when making puppets. We also made a class book. Tenderfoot parents feel free to ask your child what he or she and their friends will take to Grandmas house.
Happy Valentines Day and Happy Hot Lunch Day! We had grapes, tangerines, and pretzels for morning snacks; pizza, chicken wings, cucumber, and tomatoes for lunch; a small cookie and goldfish for afternoon snacks. Last but not least, we will be going home with lots of valentines and love
