Our NYC kitchen is being rebuilt, horray! It looks smaller without anything in it. The access doorway is being made larger, two ovens will be installed, new cupboards and so on. Whenever events are booked again at NYC - unfortunately probably not until this autumn - a fresh kitchen will be ready to serve. Thanks PC Bob Bollinger.

Ben Whiting named NYC Sailing School Administrator September 18, 2020 - Nanaimo Yacht Club Fleet Captain Bill Jones announced today that Ben Whiting, a product of NYC’s Sailing School and long-time race team competitor in Nanaimo and Victoria, has been named administrator of the Sailing School and a new NYC Race Team program. Ben is in his third year at UVic pursuing a degree in Recreation and Health Education, which dovetails perfectly with his new responsibilities at the N...anaimo Yacht Club. Ben has a long history with NYC including his summers as Student Caretaker on the docks in 2015 and 2017. He was also an instructor and coach in 2018, 2019 and this past August at the NYC Sailing School. He races competitively. As examples, he was on the top Canadian Melges 24 at the World Championships in Victoria in 2018. He was in Halifax in 2017 competing on a 29er at the Canadian Youth Championships. He is also familiar with keelboats after racing in the 2017 running of the Van Isle 360. Ben is currently on the rowing team at UVic learning about working collaboratively with others and excelling as part of a team. While he has significant history in racing, Ben’s primary responsibility will be to ensure a robust, professional and exciting sailing school will be held at NYC in 2021.

Lots of fun today as the household racing (aka COVID Cup) Series continues.
