And here you thought you were done after 3! The fourth trimester is the name given to the first 3 months after birth. In this time a lot is happening with baby developmentally, both physically and cognitively. A lot is happening with you too, both physically and emotionally as your transition into your new role as a parent (or a new parent once more). This time can be exhausting and challenging as everyone adapts to this new normal. A lot of parents wonder what they’re doing ...wrong and if they’re cut out for parenthood. The truth is it’s a tough transition period. Supportive postpartum care during the 4th trimester can ease some of the challenges during this time. A Postpartum Doula can be invaluable to reassure you that you’re doing great and that as tough as it is, it does eventually get better. Were you prepared for the fourth trimester?

A Birth Reclaiming ceremony is created to give you the emotional and physical space to heal your birth story in a safe, supportive environment. What does it look like? It can look like whatever feels right to you. Dim lights, natural sunlight, quiet music, silence, bath with your little one (provided you have been cleared to do so by your HCP), cuddling in bed, uninterrupted skin to skin, photos. It can include whoever you choose, just yourself, your partner, doula or anyone... else who was meant to be present. Endless possibilities for what YOU desire. The main goal to make you feel safe, heard and cared for and help give back some of what was taken. As a Postpartum Doula, I can help create your birth reclaiming ceremony, set the scene and complete the process. Have questions about a birth reclaiming ceremony? Have you done a birth reclaiming ceremony? I’d love to hear about it!
