2020 T4's are going to be a nightmare to prepare this year! For the 2020 taxation year, to help the CRA validate payments under the CEWS, CERB and CESB, all employers will be required to report employment income and retroactive payments made during each of the following four COVID19 relief periods. The new codes will be: Code 57: Employment income March 15 to May 9, 2020 ... Code 58: Employment income May 10 to July 4, 2020 Code 59: Employment income July 5 to August 29, 2020 Code 60: Employment income August 30 to September 26, 2020 Might want to start gathering this information now!

Just a heads up! As part of an educational campaign by the Canada Revenue's Agency's Processing Review Program, educational letters have been sent to some taxpayers who may have claimed certain tax credits or deductions on their income tax return. The letters are intended to educate the taxpayers on how to: claim an amount for a specific credit or deduction support their claim, if their return is selected for review in the future... ask for an adjustment to their return, if they want to change their claim A reply is not required to the letters. If the taxpayers want to change their returns or have questions, the letters include related information and a toll-free number.
