In partnership with local police divisions, we’re investing $2.6 million through Ontario’s Safer and Vital Communities Grant into 26 community organisations to combat racism and hate crimes. Ontario has released an update on Phase 2 of its #COVID19 vaccine implementation, including our approach for identifying the next groups of Ontarians to receive the vaccination starting as early as March 2021. The province is aiming to have 8.5M vaccinations by August.

Our government has introduced a bill to improve access to justice for Ontarians by breaking down barriers in our justice system. This includes enhanced access to French language services, such as the requirement for courts to provide translation services. Today, Premier Ford announced a province-wide state of emergency and stay-at-home order as a result of significantly increasing case numbers that threaten the capacity of our healthcare system. If we each do our part by staying at home as possible, we can get through this second wave together .

As part of the $176M investment, we are providing over $37M to expand #MentalHealth services across the justice system. This means better supports for individuals with mental health and addictions challenges.

Communities across #Ontario depend on our hard-working small businesses. That is why we are investing $60 million to support their fight against #COVID19. This grant will provide the tools and resources they need to reopen safer, rehire faster, and rebuild stronger.

Yesterday, I hosted a small business roundtable alongside Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, where I got to listen to the experiences of several local businesses during COVID-19. I’m constantly reminded of how strong and diverse the business community is in #MississaugaCentre!
