This is the story I needed this week. A woman has been reading to a friend who lost the ability due to worsening eyesight, over video chat daily throughout the pandemic. https://www.cbc.ca//15810965-a-senior-struggling-vision-sa We came upon this thanks to a submission to our online COVID-19 questionnaire, where you can tell us your pandemic experience: https://www.cbc.ca//comm/cbc-sask-my-covid-story-1.5692676. And, yes, we're looking for positive outcomes, too!

In the latest Regina Bites column, Allan Pulga brings us a touching story of resilience from the Truong family, which runs Quan Ngon Delicious Vietnamese Restaurant. Barbara Truong, the matriarch of the family and founder of the eatery, passed away suddenly in December. Then, in August, Quan Ngon temporarily closed its doors amid rising COVID-19 cases. But Barbara's husband and daughter have been determined to keep Quan Ngon going in her memory. https://www.cbc.ca//quan-ngon-vietnamese-regina-bites-1.57

I've been working with Josephine Kroeker for a few months on how to focus a personal essay about her transgender journey, one that began for her at the age of 38. I'm so glad she settled on this, and entrusted CBC Saskatoon as a platform for it: "The mainstream trans narrative is that we all hate our bodies and are tortured by gender dysphoria all of the time. While this is likely true for some, it is by no means the universal experience; many of us are proud of who we are and experience joy gender euphoria on a regular basis." Thanks to Leisha Grebinski for initially bringing Josephine's Instagram feed, in which she joyfully and vibrantly documents this journey, to my attention. https://www.cbc.ca//sa/transgender-euphoria-pov-1.5781023
