My backyard has been essential to maintaining my mental health during the pandemic. I've never been a gardener and I typically kill most of my house plants but this year I invested in creating an outdoor space that I could really enjoy and be proud of. I'm out there in the morning with my coffee. I'm out there doing yoga. I'm out there working out. I'm out there spending time with my hubby. I'm out there with my parents. Fasting is nothing new. Different cultures and religions practice fasting for various reasons. In fact Break-Fast signifies the first meal of the day after fasting overnight. I've been living with Hashimoto Thyroiditis for over 20 years. It is an autoimmune disease that if not managed effectively causes some nasty symptoms from hair loss, extreme fatigue, depression and weight gain. ... All Hashi peeps have food sensitivities especially to gluten and dairy. Fasting helps me practice mindful eating because I plan what I'm going to eat ahead a time. This helps me avoid foods that trigger my symptoms. If you have Hashimoto's and are thinking of fasting start SLOWLY. A sudden change in diet will stress your body out and trigger your symptoms. I know this from experience. Believe it or not weather changes can trigger our symptoms. Consider a 12 hour fast with a 12 hour feeding period for a couple of weeks then start expanding your fasting window. See more
