If these scissors could talk..... they would have many stories to tell. My first season at the Shaw Festival I remember being in awe of this type of scissors that all the cutters were using called Wiss. They were big, sharp and cut thru fabrics like a dream. My table mate that season talked about her teacher (the head of fashion design at Ryerson) who had just passed away, Allan. My cutter and team leader also spoke fondly of Allan, having been in the same class as him back i...n the day. Fast forward about two years, I’m dating a guy who turns out to be Allan’s nephew. Allan was a very talented man who was taken from us much too soon. Fast forward a few more years when we’re helping Allan’s mother clean out her house I come across two pairs of Wiss scissors in the fruit cellar. I knew instantly who they’d belonged to and just set them aside. I wasn’t so presumptuous to assume that I would get them since I was a seamstress by trade. Allan’s mom gifted them both to me the next day I was incredibly touched and knew I had to put them to good use in my career and I have. They’ve seen almost twenty years of fabrics from leathers to fine imported silks. I think of Allan almost every time I use them and how we would have probably gotten along so well See more

A little bit of an update

Good morning!!! Let’s talk scrunchies today. Do you have any? Are you obsessed? I love making scrunchies tbh and who wouldn’t? They’re quick and easy, fun and super cute. Did you know scrunchies are the first thing I ever made? Back when they were around the first time lol, when I was 15, yes I’m that old. So they’re not new to me. There’s SO many great makers out there right now who make them, in every color, shape, floofiness, with bows, special color collections etc. It’s ...awesome to see! I make them too but mine are different. Mine are all made from scraps from my other products. Meaning they’re not a collection and there’s not usually multiples. They’re all different sizes and widths, all depending on the size of the scrap I had to work with. I always have them on my table at shows for people to dig thru the basket but that’s not really a thing right now. Should I post a scrunchies sale? See more

Soooo I did a little something for myself this morning..... I went and got a lash lift and tint from the AMAZINGLY skilled Zoe at @thirdeyebeautybar Let me tell you she was great! She took the time to answer all of my many questions prior to our session (I have a lot of allergies and sensitivities). I couldn’t be happier with the results. And did I mention we bartered services???? I love knowing so many talented people who like to barter. She’s got cute fundies and I’ve got stunning lashes

Special thanks to our hosts @_everydaymarket and @areventsniagara for the amazing job they did organizing and making sure everyone was happy and safe I had a special visit from a friend yesterday. He was in the neighbourhood and decided to pop by and deliver me some beautiful gifts from his late wife, my friend Candy. With everything that’s happened in the last six months it felt nice to see him ...in person to give him my condolences. Candy was very special to me, to many actually. I sadly had to miss her memorial in March because we thought we had been exposed to covid, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding on the informants part . This particular piece I remember her wearing and I felt her energy as soon as I put it on. I miss you my beautiful friend fly high like the bad ass Phoenix you are. Till we meet again xo See more

Let’s talk about something. I’m a seamstress. I can and have sewn just about everything at some point or another. I’m in a place in my career now where I choose to make what I make. I enjoy sewing the products I make. I constantly get asked to do alterations (still) or make custom gowns/pieces. I say no, I no longer do these things as they 1. Hurt my hands and 2. Don’t bring me joy. I am human guys. I make mistakes, I miss things, I face palm myself all the time. For some reason not all the comments from my live sale showed up during the sale and even afterwards. Most of the ones I missed were taken care of after the sale via message from the party that wrote them however some I didn’t even see until I was scrolling thru my page doing maintenance and double checking notifications. I have NO idea why they didn’t show up and I apologize to anyone who I might have missed, I wasn’t ignoring you at all. In the future, if you comment or message and don’t hear from me within a few hours please please please follow up and message me again. This has never happened with my Facebook page and app and I would like to keep it from happening again.

Wow! I haven’t posted in a while I needed a few days to recoup I guess. Been a crazy last month of summer here. Unplanned intrusive house renovations, getting my kiddo ready for back to school, family visits from out of town, canning, sewing and trying keeping my sanity But Im here and I’m ready to tackle fall! Today I’m puttering away at my sewing machines while this beauty summers on the stovetop. I LOVE soup. Like, a serious mad love affair. Growing up soup was alwa...ys happening. Between my mom making soup for her restaurant at home, soup being made at the restaurants and then later in my childhood thru to adulthood soup every Sunday and lunches during the week. Both my Grand-mamans were/are masters and my mom too. I’m still learning but my friends have nicknamed me the soup queen A great soup starts with a great broth. Homemade is ALWAYS my fave but I will use broth from a can or carton in a pinch. I also always use my handy bowl cozies to serve big bowls of hot delicious soup, it saves your hands from touching the hot bowl. What’s your favourite soup? Or soup memory???
