Over the weekend, I read about the process in the early 2000s when the Quebec provincial government forced 28 municipalities in Greater Montreal to amalgamate. This unpopular decision resulted in 15 of the former municipalities demerging from the Montreal megacity. A complex City government structure of borough mayors, borough councillors, city councillors, and a mayor governs the areas that stayed within amalgamated Montreal to ensure local accountability.... Learn why this matters for Metro Vancouver and Langley by reading my latest post.
