DID YOU KNOW... Alberta’s spending per capita is the highest in Canada and has consistently been higher than the average of the 10 provinces over the last 25 years. And this is the most startling number: Alberta’s annual expenditures would be $10.4 billion less if its per capita spending simply matched the average of spending in Canada’s three largest provinces: British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec and we would not have a deficit. The Panel also found that, in some key are...as, in spite of the higher levels of funding, the results achieved are no better and, in some cases, worse than in other provinces. To ensure success, government needs to develop and implement a plan to return to the per capita spending levels of Canada’s largest provinces with a focus on achieving results. (MacKinnon Panel Report, Sept. 3, 2019) In contrast, the Notley NDP is demanding an immediate 50 per cent tax hike on job-creators rather than even try to address over-spending.

I am happy to see construction is underway on St. Anne’s Haven, a new continuing care centre in Lethbridge that will be home to 102 people needing supportive living and dementia care. This facility will be a safe and welcoming home where seniors and people with disabilities can get the care they need. Thank you to Covenant Care for providing thoughtful, compassionate care to our community’s seniors, people with complex needs, and their families.
