Grassroots Public Affairs asked Canadians about their views on government subsidies and support for certain commodities, including fruit and vegetables, grains, dairy, poultry, fish, beef and pork. What they found is that about 80 percent of Canadians said supporting fruit and vegetable production is high priority (4 or 5 on the scale), while the numbers for beef and pork were much lower. It's time to start aligning subsidies with public opinion, not corporate interests.
