Ooooh shudder. Imagine a world where you're not at the center of it! Now, we may be joking, but left to our normal devices and vices, this tends to be how we be...have. And sometimes it’s not about a conscious statement like I am the most important person here or the world revolves around me. Sometimes it is more about the way we shut God out of our lives in our actions, in how we spend our time, in our thoughts. And oh yeah in our hearts: the place He most desires to dwell. Gary Blanchard is a father, a husband, and the Director of Youth Ministries for the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Long story short, he’s busy. He’s well known, often sought after and you’ll likely see his face now and then at events and online as he assists young people in their journey to lead others to Christ. All of those things can easily get you out of sync and starting to think that you’re important. And, well, you are! Gary, if you’re reading - you ARE important! But you’re important in God’s eyes. And the best way to truly realise that and live that out is for Him to be the center of your world, in the same way that God made us, His children, the center of His. So this Sabbath, direct your thoughts to God. Think of it as a 24 hour date with you and God where you put distractions and all else aside and chase after His heart in ways you never have. Happy Sabbath! "Discouragement is a weapon that Satan uses to destroy any happiness you have in your life. It leads to resentment, bitterness, and self-pity---none of which will bring you closer to Jesus. If the devil can separate you from God, then he wins, so he is always looking for anything he can to keep you focused on the negative side of life. When you feel the heat from the flames of discouragement creeping in, immediately cry out to Jesus and ask Him to stomp them ou...t! Don't give the devil reason to gloat because he caused you even one minute of distress. Instead, give all of your burdens to Jesus! Remember you are a child of God, King of the universe! Instead of bathing in self-pity, bask in the light of God's presence, asking Him to give you an extra measure of His joy! You don't have to fight the battle alone!
