Natural Human Nurturing 21.01.2021

Workshop I will be hosting - This is the foundation of Natural Human Nurturing - creating a space of love, a garden from which all of our human needs can be met. It starts with old rotting logs, yard waste, manure, compost, soil, and straw. The layers form what would take years to naturally develop in a forest- a nutrient rich, self watering, pest free growing medium. So much life and beauty in these mounds of fertility. Come join me October 28 in the garden as I take us through the fundamentals and practicality of Hugelkultur.

Lots to say about this - - - First off WOW!! I always held steadfast that raising kids does not cost money. However, after 7+ years of practical experience have discovered that the real cost comes in the lack of income due to our parenting choice of valuing time with our kids over time spent bringing in income at an 'adults only' job. Second, hallelujah for the universal health care we Canadians are apparently so privileged to have! I am an independent contractor (aka No i...nsurance or benefits) so I would have had to fork out $36,000+ to birth our two boys in a hospital if I lived 2 hrs south! ! Yikes! Third, and the most important blaring message I got from this was . . . .WHY oh WHY are uncomplicated births happening in hospitals?. . . .so someone (medical supply companies, hospital staff, Big businesses) can profit ! !! and there it is! birthing at home required; -two calm midwives (PRICELESS, but based on a google search $750 for hours spent in appointments, paperwork, birth, post) - candles, iPod, water, towels, bed sheets, stainless steel bowls, thermometer, ice, . . .etc. all freely available household items - Gas to and from appointments - HypnoBirthing classes - The Mongan Method - $400 - ummm what else . . . . I opted out of ultrasounds, I might of used up a couple pee strips at appointments. . . Bottomline - I realize some need the life saving support of a hospital environment, but for the majority - get out of the corporate consumer greed and educate ourselves about the safety and sanctity of uneventful birthing at home:)
