Its a great day here in Whitefish ! cool and sunny .. a good day to get out in the bush , maybe find some good cedar for the next birchbark canoe . I often get asked why i got into birchbark canoe building ? and the short answer is ` i just love em . i just love being around them , they are so beautiful , i just like looki...ng at them . paddling them . It slows you down to the pace of nature . Every single thing that goes into a bbcanoe is a renewable resource . Birchbark , cedar . roots and spruce gum . The land keeps producing them over and over again . No green house gases are emitted in building them , or paddling them . And at the end of a long life of paddling , every part is biodegradable . Imagine if we could do so well with all the other stuff we make. See more
