It's FAQ Friday, where we address your most frequently asked questions. Have a question for our team? Add it to the comments, send us a direct message or call 1.888.671.8022 to speak with a patient care representative. Here's today's: Q: Can medical cannabis replace other prescriptions? ... A: In many cases, yes. Several studies have demonstrated patients successfully substituting cannabis for other prescriptions, including opioids, benzodiazepines and antidepressants. According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information, nearly a quarter of Canadian seniors take 10 or more prescription drugs. Since cannabis may treat several symptoms at once, it has the potential to reduce adverse drug interactions by reducing the number of overall prescriptions. In a study with seniors in Israel, researchers found that over 18% had stopped taking opioid analgesics or reduced their dose after six months. The term "self-care" gets used to sell a lot of products and services, but on this International Self-Care Day, we're having a long think about what the term really means. To us, self-care is acknowledging that you need to love and care for yourself before you can do the same for anyone else. And yes, sometimes that mean taking a long bath, but it can also mean getting to the doctor for regular check-ups, taking exercise breaks at work, connecting with long-lost friends, and... so much more. Anything that nourishes your body or spirit, really. What does self-care mean to you? (And hey, just in case it's a spa treatment, we've got you covered):
