Natural Curiosity in FDK

We spent the week building knowledge about the Winter Olympics which concluded with our own "Classroom Olympics". Here is what we did to create a meaningful learning experience for our youngest learners.

In thinking about what makes someone an expert, I decided to reflect on my journey in kindergarten and how even after 5 years, I would not consider myself an expert. Each year our students are different and each year brings new challenges and new reflection which leads to more experience vs becoming an expert.

September is just around the corner which means new students, families and new ideas. But what does September look like as far as setting a setting a solid foundation for student success in your classroom? I have been asked in the past what do we do to maximize our learning time so I thought I would share our 3 "must dos" in setting our foundation for maximizing learning.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. We took "Pride" in our learning as we explored different kinds of families and linked this learning (in a simple way) to what the Pride Flag means flying outside our school.
