I love this candid shot of Rhonda and Cleo. We recognize how difficult curbside appointments can be, and we are definitely looking forward to a time when we can invite you all back in. But this moment truly captures one of the positives. The bonds that Rhonda and I are getting to build with your pets is truly special. We love our patients and we are so thankful for the trust you have leaving them in our care.

This is what my crew thinks of the weather change. Can you spot all 3 in the 2nd photo? I know we have a lot of patients that are enjoying the cooler weather, but apparently my guys are not having any of it. We’d love to see your photos of what your pets think of this fall weather! Please share whether they’re feeling relief or feeling frozen!

To our valued clients, patients and customers, The South Perimeter Highway is currently being repaved (yay!), however there is a portion right in front of our... clinic that has been removed in preparation for this to occur after 6pm today. If your animal has an appointment today, or if you are coming to pick up food/medications please be advised that taking the turn off for Anseeuw Bros Ltd. will be smoother. Though it does require approximately 1/2 a mile of gravel travel. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Chester is sending his best smile as we share a quick update on what we’re doing with the current Covid-19 restrictions: - we are no longer limiting appointments to essentials - we are continuing curbside drop-off appointments and limited home/farm calls - we are asking you to pre-screen yourself prior to an appointment and there will be no charge for rescheduling due to illness - we are encouraging payment through e-transfer and online credit card payment ... - we are wearing masks for all client interactions and ask that only those who are necessary are present for appointments Thanks for your cooperation, and as always call us if you have questions. Have a great week! See more

Meet Meeko! Meeko started coming for acupuncture treatments to address hind end weakness and decreased mobility. His owners were concerned about arthritis pain. Meeko has previously fractured his right hind leg. He also has hyperesthesia (a disorder relating to skin sensitivity that can cause agitation and self-mutilation). Meeko likes to make himself at home in the exam room, and once his acupuncture needles are in place he settles into his carrier for the duration of his treatment. Shortly after Meeko started coming for treatment, he started leaping up on the counter and his owners can’t keep him off the tv stand! We love to see our patients enjoy their treatments, and we love even more to see their mobility improve! #catsloveacupuncturetoo

Meet Cleo. Cleo is a very special girl who has been having tummy trouble. This was her second visit with us, and her first drop off due to our changes with Covid-19. Cleo did very well for her laser and acupuncture treatment sitting safe in Rhonda’s lap. Her treatment focused on tonifying her Spleen Qi and relieving the stagnation of energy, which for Cleo is exacerbated by stress and worry. By addressing both Cleo’s emotional and physical well-being we are not only helping Cleo feel better now, but also working to prevent future episodes. #holisticveterinarymedicine

Only these two can make nose licking look cute... I wanted to offer my reassurance that we are still open for essential or urgent appointments. If you are unsure whether your pet falls into this category, or how we can safely treat your pet, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss this with you.

I hope you are getting outside and getting some healthy exercise with your dogs during this time of physical distancing. I wanted to highlight this hind leg extension stretch from my YouTube channel. It is a great post-walk stretch - especially with the ice that is lingering on some sidewalks and streets. There is an alternative way to do this stretch with your dog lying down - the link is in the comments. https://youtu.be/4DjRo_nFRKo

Tonight I found a moment to enjoy this beautiful view. It may have been cold, but being out in the fresh air made the worries of the week seem a little less significant. May you all find your own moment this week, whether that is outside in the fresh air or inside snuggling your pets.

We are announcing our next blood donor clinic a little early to invite new donors to sign up! This extra time allows us to ensure all vaccines are up to date an...d that paperwork is completed. We have 2 more appointments available for our Canine Blood Donor Clinic on February 25th from 5pm - 8pm. Please let us know if you would like to sign your dog up to donate - if he or she is a new donor we will provide you with the proper form to complete. We are urging new donors to come forward so that we can hopefully work towards having blood donor clinics more frequently at our veterinary hospital. The Canadian Animal Blood Bank (CABB) will be running this clinic. CABB is a not for profit organization. The organization is dedicated to improving veterinary care by providing blood products for animals who require transfusion therapy as part of their care. The Canadian Animal Blood Bank Headquarters is located in Winnipeg MB, Canada. A satellite collection site is located at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton, Alberta. When your dog donates his/her blood goes to help dogs all over Canada who are in urgent need of blood products. Contact us by phone at 204-275-2038 (call or text) or via email at [email protected] with any questions you may have or to sign your dog up!

An update on Pippy: She is doing great! Pip was diagnosed with Cushing’s last month. This was diagnosed based on bloodwork done prior to her dental procedure, as she is not symptomatic for this condition. Currently her treatment consists of acupuncture, milk thistle for liver support and we have adjusted her diet to be lower in carbohydrates. She is not currently on any medications (traditional or herbal). Every animal is unique - if your pet has been diagnosed with Cushing’s, please discuss treatment options with your Veterinarian to determine what is best for your pet. There are many options, both in traditional medicine and Chinese medicine, and an integrative approach can be used as well. #naturalhealingvet

At a year old, Daisy Duke brings enthusiasm to her appointments! A first impression might lead you to believe there’s no way she would sit still long enough for acupuncture. As hard as she plays, she rests just as hard. Daisy receives a combination of acupuncture and laser therapy. Here she is soaking in her laser treatment.
