Hi there! We are Sylvester and Chase - a lovable pair of senior guys looking for a home with room for two! Chase likes to come right over for pets and attention..., whereas Sylvester likes to lay back and let you come to him. They are both loving with people, and especially with each other. They can usually be found curled up together in a comfy bed dreaming about snuggles...and probably treats! Before we go home, a member of our Animal Health Department would like to talk with you. Adoptions are by appointment only. Only applicants who follow the Temporary COVID-19 Adoption Protocol will be considered; this protocol is outlined online: https://bit.ly/3dquZzM

Almost every chronic disease can be linked to inflammation. It's more than just achy joints or itchy skin. Heart disease, tumors, and allergies stem from inflam...mation too. Learning how to reduce inflammation helps reduce disease risks. It also helps slow the aging process. Less inflammation means more healthy, happy years with our pets. The best place to fight inflammation is through the gut. If the gut lining is not healthy it can leak and cause inflammation. A healthy gut produces antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals and inflammation. A healthy gut needs probiotics and prebiotics. Dogs also need humic acid and fulvic acid. But, many probiotics can't survive in a dog's acidic stomach. Research shows soil-based probiotics are the best choice for dogs. PROTECT is a soil-based probiotic and prebiotic. PROTECT also contains the acids dogs need. Supporting a healthy gut is one of the best things you can do for your dog. Most senior #dog foods are terrible. They lower calories by reducing meat and adding carbs. Instead, seek higher protein and lower fat.

AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Good things come in pairs Two sets of ‘bonded pairs’ looking for their forever families!... We have a very unusual situation. We have TWO sets of young ‘bonded pair’ Goldens who recently came from Cairo. These wonderful, energetic ‘kids’ are with their fantastic foster-to-adopt families, who have come to the realization that a young, energetic pair are too much of a handful for them. Both pairs are nothing short of fantastic ~ young, full of life, curious, smart, and lively. They need young, energetic families and secure yards where they can play to their heart’s delightas we all know that ‘tired dogs are good dogs’. Here is more information about both pairs: Shelby #3367 & Morgan #3368 This male and female pair are both around two years old. They absolutely love each other and to run around in their new Canadian backyard. Both are affectionate and loving. They, of course, need basic and leash training and time to get settled into their foreign environment. But looking into their grateful eyes, we believe it won’t be long before they call Canada ‘home’. https://www.goldenrescue.ca/goldens/3367-shelby-3368-morgan/ Jake #3389 & Jellybean #3391 This male and female partnership can be described as happy-go-lucky pups ~ only eight months old. They are a joy to watch at play and are adorable, smart, and quiet (neither rarely bark). Jake is the laid-back one and Jellybean is a bit more excitable who has a prey drive and wants to chase everything she sees. They love to wrestle and are fitting into Canadian life just fine. https://www.goldenrescue.ca/golde/3389-jake-3391-jellybean/ ********************************* Both need energetic families with lots of love and patience. They have already started to embrace their lives here and soon their rough beginnings will be distant memories. If you are interested in either pair, please email [email protected] We have more precious Goldens coming from Cairo in December, so email us if you are interested in adopting around mid-December.

10 year old Sultan needs YOU to share his story and help him get into his perfect forever home. Did you know that Sultan is both child and dog friendly? When Su...ltan found himself in the shelter, he quickly became a fan favourite with staff and we have to say that the same feeling was had by his foster home, our vet clinic, and anyone who has met him too. Sultan enjoys romping around the park with his dog friends as well as walks around neighbourhood and in the forest too. He walks beautifully on lead and has excellent listening skills too. Sultan also knows his name, to come when called, sit, stay and a few other commands too. He is simply the perfect house guest and a joy to have around. He certainly loves all of the people in his home and especially the children that he lives with. And of course belly rubs and pets too. Sultan is a healthy fellow who like most senior sheps does have some back end weakness so is currently taking daily gabapentin (40.00/month) and metacam (80.00/month) to help him feel his best. Sultan currently lives with a cat but will sometimes bark at it so to keep your cat from being annoyed should be placed in a cat free home. Sultan is able to do the 10 stairs in his home now with ease, however for a permanent placement will be looking for a home with fewer stairs to get in and out just in case at some point in his life (as most large breed dogs do, find stairs a bit tricky). Sultan has excellent recall and really just wants to hang out with you where ever you may be. Did we mention he likes belly rubs and pets? That's because Sultan is incredibly affectionate and gentle too. So if you think Sultan might be the dog for you, applcations to adopt this handsome fellow can be found on our website at www.happysplace.ca and he is currently being fostered in London ON. Please share and let's get Sultan HOME! See more

SEEN BUT UNABLE TO SECURE LUCAN Do you recognize me? I have been seen multiple times in the area of Spencer Ave and Richmond St (highway 4). Nobody can get ...within 100 feet. Efforts are underway to set up a feeding station by neighbours to see if they can get dog to come back to one area to either trap or hand secure. This dog is extremely thin. We do not know the circumstances as to why (he may be sick or has been on its own for awhile lost). We don’t speculate. If you recognize this dog, please call Animal Care Centre Lobo at 519-666-1632 or message us. If you see this dog, please do not chase or call out. Get low to the ground and coax with smelly treats.

There are a million reason I would never apply or get my dog/cat to ingest insecticides like flea and tick treatments. Terrible what these insecticides are do...ing to the planet. The problem is these chemicals are so potent, he said, even at tiny concentrations. We would expect them to be having significant impacts on insect life in rivers. One flea treatment of a medium-sized dog with imidacloprid contains enough pesticide to kill 60 million bees - Prof Dave Goulson The researchers said the blanket use of flea treatments should be discouraged and that new regulation is needed. Currently, the flea treatments are approved without an assessment of environmental damage. https://www.theguardian.com//pet-flea-treatments-poisoning In other news: The FDA is alerting pet owners and veterinarians of the potential for neurologic adverse events in dogs and cats when treated with drugs that are in the isoxazoline class : FDA Statement - https://www.fda.gov//fact-sheet-pet-owners-and-veterinaria Peer-Reviewed Paper Out of the 2,751 respondents: When any flea treatment (Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica) was given to dogs, 66.6% of respondents experienced a REACTION to the treatment!- https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/vms3.285

Applications for Zorro are now closed. Please consider another one of our senior dogs instead. Teeny 8 pound chihuahua boy Zorro is finally ready to begin the s...earch for his perfect forever family. Could that be you? Zorro's favourite things include sleeping in bed with his best person, belly rubs and snuggles. At 11 years old, Zorro is currently living with cats who he is totally cool with and has met other dogs too. Speaking of cats, he might think he is a cat too. His favourite napping spots include the back of the sofa or laid out in front of a sunbeam coming through the window. Before his arrival into foster care, Zorro was dumped by someone on the 401 highway and left running around traffic. Due to this experience, Zorro at this time is still a bit fearful of new situations. And like most chihuahuas, he is slower to warm up to new people but bonds fiercely with the person he lives with. Due to his tiny size and unknown past, a home without young children will be Zorro's perfect placement. Zorro currently lives with older elementary and high school aged people and does well there. Do you love to walk? So does Zorro. In fact, be careful when you say the "w" word because as soon as "walk" comes out of your mouth, Zorro will begin spinning in circles, put his ears up and squeak in excitement. Zorro recently had dental surgery to remove a ton of rotten teeth and during that surgery due to his tiny mouth size suffered a very tiny hairline fracture. He is currently healing well and is expected to have no lasting effects from this at all. It just means that for another 6-8 weeks he can only have canned food only. Otherwise, this healthy fellow is neutered and up to date on all other vetting too. So if you're thinking Zorro might be your perfect match to snuggle up with during these colder nights, head on over to our website at www.happysplace.ca to complete an application. Zorro's adoption fee is $400.00 and he is currently being fostered in London ON. See more
