Today we begin a new weekly series, celebrating the many volunteers in our community. Each Wednesday we will introduce you to a different person who is choosing... to be generous with their time and effort, to the benefit of others. This week, we celebrate WO1 Breanna Sirois of 51 Canada Aviation and Space Museum Squadron in Ottawa, ON. WO1 Sirois is a first year University of Ottawa student studying International Development and Globalization, and she has already made a positive mark doing volunteer and humanitarian work within both local and international communities. Last year before the COVID-19 pandemic, she had the incredible opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic as part of a select group to offer aid and build housing for a community in need. While there, she was able to document her experiences and included this voyage as part of her journey to complete her Gold Level-Duke of Edinburgh qualification. WO1 Sirois is a true leader and has had an amazing life journey throughout her almost 7 years as a Cadet. Even as she prepares to complete her cadet career in June 2021, she is already finding ways to share the gifts gained from the program by learning new skills and teaching others how to be the best that they can be. In addition to receiving the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence, she also has been recognized as a squadron level volunteer of the year in 2018 and 2019. Outside of cadets she has had the honour to be the recipient of the Gina Gentleman Stop Hunger Scholarship, the Orleans Outstanding Youth Award, the Stanzel Family Community Recognition (a local community award) and the Prix Richard, for community awareness (from her graduating class 2020).

#TBT Congratulations to all of the recipients of the Canada Company Bursary for Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers. The Canada Company Bursary is reserved for t...hose that exemplify the attributes of leadership and citizenship. This past summer was particularly challenging as you were forced outside of your comfort zone and participated in courses in a virtual environment. Each and every one of you rose to the occasion and demonstrated your flexibility, agility, and determination, showing your qualities as leaders, which is why you were selected for this bursary. As you pave the way for your future, continue to practice the knowledge and skills that the Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers programs have put at your disposal. Your potential is remarkable.
