We are now starting our Christmas Hamper Applications. Things have changed from recent years. Please call the Centre 250-782-5202 during business hours 9-2 Monday to Friday. Please do not call to apply for someone else. (We need to talk to the person receiving the hamper) Limited amount of hampers available. One hamper per household. All hamper applications will be reviewed by Nawican Management and notifications for will be made by Dec 4.

Well, it's finally official!!! A full 9 months in the making so I guess you could say it is my baby, only not in the traditional sense lol I am absolutely o...verwhelmed with gratitude So many moving parts and obstacles to overcome...there were many times I felt defeated, and then just when I thought we had crossed the finish line, more challenges were presented ....but, with perseverance, the love and support of my family, friends and staff...and the strong voice in the back of mind (my mom) whispering, "where there's a will, there's a way..." WE DID IT!!!! Keys finally in handand a big thank you to Rob Brown for coming down to take some pics for us (looking forward to reading the paper next week!) I am beyond excited to announce the expansion of The Nawican Friendship Centre...The Nawican Bergeron Youth & Cultural Centre!!! We have so many amazing things planned for this building, and we are looking forward to providing even more programs and services for our community!!! Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this vision and dream a reality! It's almost Trick or Treating Time @ the Nawican Friendship Centre. This year our staff went deep in their closet and dug deep under the couch to find these gems. ha ha. Bowls of Chili available to tame those sugar highs as well as treats. It all starts around 5 pm while supplies last!!!! Let's let the kids have some fun!!

BCAAFC has partnered with the Safespace Network pilot project to give Indigenous patients across BC the ability to safely and anonymously submit their healthcar...e experiences. BC Friendship Centres across the province will be next to host the web app. The Safespace web app can be accessed at http://safespace.healthcare/bcaafc, or under Report Racism with Safespace on the top menu bar of the BCAAFC website. Over time your experiences and ratings will help Safespace Networks discover patterns of care across BC. Validated patterns will be used to help Indigenous patients make more informed choices on how to access care and to help health systems make better decisions about health system design.

Sunday, November 8 was National Aboriginal Veterans Day. This week, we take time to honour all the Indigenous veterans who served in the Canadian military. Make the Nawican a stop on your Trick or Treating Adventure! Starting at 5 pm until supplies last, we will have prepackaged candy bags available at the door. Please be safe and remember to social distance around other Trick or Treaters. Bowls of Chili available to go to nourish your hungry ghost or goblin for the long night ahead.
