Linwood (Earl) Smith July 14, 1932 - January 7, 2021 Facebook Twitter... reddit EAST HODGDON - (Earl) Linwood Smith, 88, passed from these shadowlands to real life on Jan. 7, 2021, confident that the One in whose hands he had placed his life here on earth is the same One with whom he will spend eternity. Linwood was born July 14, 1932, in Old Town, Maine, to Harold V. Smith and Bessie M. (Turney). Except for his first couple of years, he grew up in East Hodgdon, Maine, a small community of many family members and dear friends. He attended high school at Ricker Classical Institute, then married Doris Carson, from Littleton, Maine, in 1952 (deceased 2016). They attended New Brunswick Bible Institute in NB, Canada, through 1955. From 1955 through 1957 he served his country in the USA and Germany during the post-WWII occupation. Carpentry and construction were his livelihood. He worked with his father initially, then continued on into his 70's with his son, Evan, working by his side. If people were looking for quality carpentry work, they could depend on E. Linwood Smith & Son. Linwood and Doris were dedicated members of the East Hodgdon Bible Church for some 70 years. He served on the board of New Brunswick Bible Institute for many years. A man of unwavering faith, he lived his life emulating the truths found in the Word of God. It showed in his dedicated love for family, his strong character, and service to others. His powerful example has left an impact on all who knew him. He is survived by his four children, Wayne (and Becky) Smith of Colombia, South America; (Dave and) Connie Bartlett of Bradley, Maine; Evan Smith of Hodgdon, Maine; and Lynette Carver of Lisbon Falls, Maine. He was the oldest of 5 siblings, and is survived by them all; (Virgil and) Marilyn Farrar, Robert (and Margaret) Smith, Kathy Smith, (David and) Sylvia Quint, all residents of Hodgdon, Maine. Friends may call from 1:30-2:30 p.m. with the service starting at 2:30 p.m. at the East Hodgdon Baptist church. Covid restrictions will be applied. To share memories See more

From Bob Dunlop (grad '53) Dear Friends. My dear sweet wife Margie (grad of '52) went home to be with the Lord. I think it was around 8:30pm. She closed her eyes here and opened them in Heaven. What a hope we have in Christ. Someone asked if I cried! I sure did! When I told Cathy and Jean, we all cried! I will miss her more than anyone knows. It has been 15 years since she was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. But she is now free of all that and is in our Lord's p...resence. John 14:1 - 6 says it all. Jesus said in verse 6, "I am the way the truth and the life; no man comes unto the Father but by me." I hope everyone who reads this knows Him. If you don't, receive Him now. What comfort it brought to my old heart as I saw her leave her body and go to be with Him. I told her, when you see Jesus, tell Him we love Him. So we sorrow but not as others who have no hope. Funeral arrangements will be announced. See more
