Copied from NB Anglers: There will be a public meeting Thursday August 17 at the Cocagne Marina from 6:30-8:30 pm with Fisheries and Oceans of Canada. As it is now, we can do some recreational fishing for Strip Bass and Mackerel on tidal water without a license, but for next year, FOC want to change that. They are also talking about giving commercial licenses to the natives so they can fish with net. I can’t understand why the meeting wasn’t in Miramichi instead of Cocagnep...robably they knew less people would attend. If you have a chance, come on down and voice you concern. This is only another way for the government to get money out of our pocket. Please share, we need fisherman to attend this meeting. If this is indeed true then people need to come out in force against it. Especially the commercial netting of striped bass. I encourage anyone who can make this meeting and stand up for not only the fish but also equal rights and common sense to attend. It is high time the government start basing decisions on facts, make laws progressive and fair, and protect the fish by dealing with the real issues (offshore over fishing, poaching, nets, lack of laws and enforcement for native anglers) instead of attacking the recreational fisherman with a rod and pandering to special interests!

Thursday is the day I leave New Brunswick for new adventures in Ontario. I am not sure what I will do with this page and the blog. I may rename it, or I may discontinue it, that really depends on how much time I have to devote to this sport as I start my new position at Amazon. I will definately aim to explore the waters around the Windsor area, where I will be living, I just do not know yet how often that will be. I had hoped to get one last trip out here in NB after my NF...LD vacation but it was not meant to be. Thank you to everyone who has followed my adventures and promotion of the sport of kayak fishing here in New Brunswick. I hope to watch the sport continue to blossom from afar, and hopefully get back again in the coming years to fish here once in a while. I've made a lot of friends here through fishing and leaving is a tremendously difficult thing to do. I urge everyone to be responsible stewards of the environment, practice catch/photo/release, urge others to try to the sport, and speak out against government and industry who do harm (spraying of pesticides, open net salmon farming...etc.), and of course, always wear your PFD! Cheers, joe

Sadly, we our home goes on the market today! Please pass this link on to anyone you know who may be looking to move into the Quispamsis area or are looking to upgrade to an amazing 4 bedroom family home. Priced at $375,000 we are asking less than homes that pale in comparison right in this neighborhood.
