We did it! Legislation was introduced today by the Saskatchewan Government to regulate massage therapy in our province! MTAS has been advocating for legislation... to protect the integrity of our industry and the public since 1995! Saskatchewan will be joining five other provinces as a member of the Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada to promote consistency and excellence in massage therapy across Canada. There is still a ways to go as we consult on the specific regulations and processes. But the news is an historic step forward and exciting news for members and the entire public! More to come :).

Now that Ive gotten used to being back at work, I would like to update everyone on a few changes. - My available hours will be: Monday/Tuesday 10am-5pm Wednesday/Thursday 11am-6pm... Friday 9am-4pm - Covid-19 waivers must be filled out prior to EVERY appointment. If you have an email address on file, it will automatically be sent the day of your appointment. If you do not have one on file, you will be asked to provide one for future forms. - Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment and stay seated at the top of the stairs until Im ready for you. Self check-in is available to let me know you are there. - Masks are not mandatory for clients. If you are more comfortable wearing one, please bring one from home. - I will not be booking any same day/last minute appointments. Please be patient, as it may take time to return everyones calls/messages. Online booking is still available. I am currently booking until June 30th as I am scheduled to be away for a minimum 2 weeks in July. It has been a long stressful 2 months, but I look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Great news announced by the provincial government today that massage therapy can resume in Saskatchewan starting May 19th! Let your clients know you can accept ...bookings as of May 19. However, we have to be smart about this. As Premier Moe said, you dont want to be that business. Lets keep the curve flat: 1. Do not treat clients until May 19th 2. Watch for updates from us on new protocols that will be required of our profession to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread (they are currently being developed) Stay strong everyone. We can begin helping people again very soon.

Most people dont know that the effects of massage are cumulative. Its easier to prevent the injury, than recover from the injury! Warm up prior to shoveling. Lift with your legs, not your back.... Make sure your knees are bending and straightening to lift the shovel instead of leaning forward and straightening with your back. Push the snow. It is better for your back to push the snow rather than lifting it. Pace yourself, and take frequent breaks. Gently stretch your back, arms, and legs before returning to work.
