The Province of New Brunswick Scholarship and the NB Medical Education Foundation have been an incredible support throughout my medical studies and I am forever thankful. At a time where thousands of New Brunswickers are without a family doctor, it is crucial to find ways to increase th...e number of practicing physicians. "I am now in my second year of medical school at Dalhousie University, and I am very grateful to be a recipient of the RBC Medical Education Scholarship. Having this scholarship has been a significant burden lifted off of my shoulders and has allowed me to immerse myself in medical school, my training and research. Not only does receiving this scholarship support me financially, but it also continues to remind me that my community supports and believes in me and my pursuits. As you read this, a group of New Brunswick medical students prepares for a life of service. And because of generous people like you, they’re all are highly likely to set up a practice here in New Brunswick after graduation. You see, these students received return to service scholarships. And in exchange for those scholarships, they’ve pledged one year of medical service in New Brunswick for each year of scholarship received up to four years. That means more doctors practic...ing here at home where we need them most. In fact, just this September, thanks to the kindness of people like you, 42 New Brunswick medical students received scholarships totalling $304,000. And since our organization was formed, your generosity has created over $2 million dollars in scholarships that encourage doctors to practice in our province. Plus, this year, we were honoured to add a new $5,000 award directed to Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick students The Pat Darrah Memorial Medical Education Scholarship. A fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to our community especially in the field of healthcare. Pat considered his role in the formation of DalMedNB the milestone of his many transformative projects.
