This course is open to participants with prior pottery experience only! Pat will demonstrate/teach on Saturday mornings and then return on Sunday afternoon to work with students to complete the weekend pieces. Then, 3-4 weeks later, we will tackle the next item for the set following the same schedule. This will provide time for students to practice and work on Saturday afternoon, and time for the pieces to dry prior to finishing on the Sunday. Each participant will be able to create at least 4 place settings -- if students want to produce larger sets, they need only to put the time in between sessions to complete additional pieces. The schedule will be as follows: February 1st, 2nd, Weekend One : Plates - dinner, luncheon, side. Saturday 9 to noon. Sunday 1 to 4. February 29th, March 1st, Weekend Two: Bowls - Soup, cereal, pasta. Same schedule as above. March 28th, 29th, Week Three: Mugs - Same schedule as above. April 18th, Week Four: Glazing - Saturday 9 to noon Students must be 18 years or older, intermediate or advanced level throwing required. Limited to 8 students. All students will require their own throwing and trimming tools, a 12 ruler, callipers that can reach 12 and a couple of light weight dry cleaner bags. Students will need to purchase their clay of choice from the guild at their regular rate. White, grey or speckled stoneware only as red clay or clay with a high iron content is not microwave friendly and therefor not recommended. Pat does not recommend using porcelain either due to warpage. Students should anticipate using a minimum of 2 sleeves of clay to complete 4 place settings.
