Wow it is hard to believe that we are now only one month away from the official start to autumn! Sadly, that means that there is only a handful of tours left before we wind down for the season. Due to our Covid-19 capacity limitations, many of our tours fully book well in advance. If a tour date you select is fully booked, make sure to add your group to the waiting list as we almost always open up seats last minute. Additional seats are opened when we have a solid weather forecast that ensures we can maximize outside seating & distancing. Come spend one of the last days of summer in secluded paradise! With our late start & very shortened 2020 season, today was our first visit to Baie Fine and Lake Topaz. Hard to believe it is August 5th and we are saying that! With a seriously abbreviated sailing season and reduced capacity, opportunities to sail with us this season are limited. We hope you will join us in the next few weeks on one of our adventures. Well it finally happened. Grand Heron made it’s 2020 debut in Killarney today! Hard to believe we had to wait until July 20th, but we managed to put all our months of planning into action and it was so great to get back at it! Today we proved we could operate safely and efficiently with our new Covid-19 policies & lowered capacity aboard. It was a bit of a blustery day out there today, but it was a good one! Thank you to the 30 aboard today who put their trust in us and join...ed us on this voyage as we rolled out our new operations strategies and protocols. Our passengers and crew today were like old pros - following mask, distancing and sanitizing rules to a tee. Shout out to our phenomenal crew for adapting to all our new rules & processes aboard and ashore. Since we are planning to run just a little over 20 events this summer (our ticket availability will be a mere 10% of 2019), we are anticipating selling out most if not all of our future dates for the 2020 season pretty quickly. Happy Canada Day! Today we are pleased to announce the end of the Transport Canada order prohibiting the operation of all tour boats in Canada. While we do not have a public tour to offer you until July 13th, we are full steam ahead with our plans to resume operations on that date in a modified way and at a fraction of capacity to adjust to our current virus realities. Rather than begin touring today, we are remaining closed for two more weeks to further prepare for re-open...ing. We are also taking extra time to observe others in the tour boat industry. We feel this will help make the most informed decisions and modifications to our own operations. We will see what are best policies & practices elsewhere and adopt the safest methods in keeping our passengers and crew as safe as possible. MAY 8TH NCCL COVID UPDATE Good day everyone. We hope this message finds you safe and healthy! We wanted to provide you with an update regarding our cruising season in 2020. We have been following the COVID situation very closely and working to implement changes to all our operational procedures to address and minimize risk. We take the health and safety of our passengers, crew and community very seriously and that will always be our priority. Because our services are regulat...ed by the federal government through oversight and inspections by Transport Canada, we will be directed by TC as to when and how we can safely return to operations. On April 4th, 2020, Transport Canada issued an order prohibiting the operations of commercial passenger vessels until June 30th. We will be going a step further and delaying the start of our cruise season until July 13th beginning the season with our first run to Killarney and then operating an abbreviated schedule going forward. We will of course follow and implement all procedures and guidelines from Transport Canada. At this time we are not clear on what those will entail but we are taking steps to modify our operations on our own and will adopt all recommendations from TC when they are published. Some of the changes we are planning include: - Limiting our capacity to enable social distancing between guests. - Frequent and increased cleaning of all surfaces particularly the restrooms - Eliminating our buffet meals. Staff will now plate any meals served to avoid close contact or cross handling of serving utensils. - Installation of hand sanitizer stations on board - Implementation of all guidelines and requirements as directed by our regulator, Transport Canada We understand that this situation is in a state of flux and could change at any moment. As our planned opening date approaches, we will continue to provide you with updates. In the mean time stay healthy, stay safe and stay positive! We will continue to work on preparation for our shortened season. We have also taken this down time to develop a new website.
