Happy National Espresso Day! As nurses, we know we should be having adequate rest, water intake, carbohydrates/nutrition, and exercise so we can stay focused and alert throughout our shifts. However as nurses, we know this concept being true for us 24/7 is hilarious! Have a cup of espresso today- you've earned it!!

There are two days left in October, and we challenge you to ask yourself: How did October go? Did I feel equip to deal with the challenges I faced? What could I have done differently? Do I remain calm regardless of what is going on within the nursing floor If you answered 'no' to that last question- don't fret! Nursing is a tough profession, and there is a lot of things that can occur that we do not feel prepared for. Setting yourself up for success using the techniques in ...this post will help get you on the right foot to handle anything that november throws at you (and honestly, who knows what could happen). #NCLEX #passthenclex #nclexstudying #nursingstudent

When it comes to studying for NCLEX-RN, there is an overwhelming amount of information you are expected to know. From combining four years of school into a tangible study guide, to knowing how to take a Computer Adaptive Exam, it is a LOT of new information and expectations that fall on you, as a fourth year (or a repeat taker!) Our program is built for that. We combine not only the four years of the BScN Degree for you to re-learn and familiarize yourself with, but we teach ...you HOW to approach questions, the best ways to manage your time on the exam, constant support, and so so much more! Give us a shout today to have a free, no strings attached, 15 minute phone consultation with our program owner. She will answer any questions you may have, go over the program, and (hopefully) calm your fears! Go to http//:www.nclexeducation.ca to book! #NCLEXRN #PASSTHENCLEX #NURSINGSCHOOL #NCLEXRNTEST #RN #FUTURERN #BScNursing

Question of the week! Click like or comment once you think you've got it, then scroll down to see if you're right! ANSWER: B, C... Adverse effects of steroid therapy include edema of the face and trunk, increased susceptibility to infection, gastric and intestinal mucosal bleeding, sodium and water retention, and hypertension. Steroid therapy can also cause vision problems. Urinary output is decreased due to the retention of sodium. Bleeding gums do not result from steroids.

Dear Nursing Students.... To be student in today's healthcare climate can be a challenging and nerve-racking decision. We are forever thankful to nursing students for looking a challenge in the eye and confronting it head on. Make sure you thank a nursing student today... whether they will become a nurse at your bedside, a creator of healthcare policies, a professor to teach the next generation, a healthlink operator, or another important spot- they are our future. #nursingstudent #nurse #passthenclex #nursingweek #NCLEXRN #futureRN

Since Remembrance Day took place on a Wednesday, we wanted to ensure we let our post speak for itself. Therefore, we missed our question of the week. So we moved some things around to bring it today. Thinking about the physiology of left sided heart failure (where does the blood come from, pump to?), what do you think happens to the respiratory system and circulatory system if it doesn't do that properly? ... We are also doing a NEW WAY OF ANSWERING. From now on, if you comment what you think the answer may be, we will reply if you are right/what you may have missed. That way, you don't have to wait until we post the answer tomorrow to see if you got it. #NCLEXRN #nclexquestions #futureRN #nursingschool #BScNursing

Happy Wednesday! You are officially half done the week, which means it is pop quiz time. Today is on pharmacology. What symptoms would you tell your patient (newly on Metformin) to let you know about? Once you think you've got it, like and comment. Then scroll down to see if you're right! ... There is a high risk of lactic acidosis when using metformin; 50% of the cases may be fatal. A black box warning for metformin is to instruct the client to stop the drug and immediately notify the prescriber about unexplained hyperventilation, muscle pain, malaise, dizziness,light-headedness, unusual sleepiness, unexplained stomach pain, feelings of coldness, slow or irregular heartrate, or other nonspecific symptoms of early lactic acidosis. Headache, hunger, and tingling in the fingertips are not signs of lactic acidosis #NCLEXRN #nclexquestions #passthenclex #RNUSA #RNCanada

Studying for the NCLEX-RN is a LOT. It is even more when it is combined with preceptorship prior to graduating. Believe it or not though, studying while you are IN preceptorship can help consolidate your learning and strengthen your critical thinking. Here are some of our tips to do great- at both. #NCLEXRN #passthenclex #rncanada #rnUSA #futureRN #BSCNYear4

Nursing is stressful. Sometimes a night out with friends can be just what you need in order to reset. Always ensure, though, that what happens on a night out stays on the night out. Meaning, don't bring it to work! If you were the charge nurse and you smelt alcohol on a coworker's breath, how would you respond? Check out the options below, and then comment or like once you've got it. Scroll down to see if you're right!... ANSWER: A. This situation should be reported immediately to the nursing supervisor or manager at the time. The nurse is liable to report a suspicious situation that could create an unsafe situation for the clients. Reporting a suspicious situation does not imply actual guilt; it implies identification of a high-risk situation. The supervisor will then follow the correct procedure for management and follow-up of the situation. This situation requires immediate attention and cannot be delayed until the head nurse is available on the day shift. The charge nurse, or another staff nurse, should not confront the nurse; this is the responsibility of the nursing supervisor. Assessment of the nurse’s behaviour is not the nurse’s responsibility; reporting the potentially unsafe situation is.
