I also got to capture the yellow-headed blackbird while I was at the Birds of Prey Center! Believe it or not these birds also have similar sounding calls. However the Yellow-headed Blackbirds call is significantly more raspy they also have a very strong grip that helps them hang on the the bullrush.

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I went out the other week to do an early morning adventure at the Birds of Prey Center to try and catch some sunrise activity and managed to catch some cool experiences that I will be posting and talking about over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and keep your eyes out for those you won’t want to miss it! For now though here’s a couple pictures of a Red-Winged Blackbird that I found while I was at the Birds of Prey Center, hope you enjoy them!

I managed to capture my first shots of a northern flicker! These birds are super interesting! As a matter of fact, they have very similar calls to Pileated Woodpeckers which makes identifying them off of their calls a little tricky.

It’s Monday again y’all, which means we’ve had another weekend come and go! Did you spend some time outside at all this weekend? If so comment down below what you did! I came across this deer a couple of weeks ago and noticed that something was not right with its neck and potentially underside too!! If you zoom in on the picture you can see a spot on the neck that has been shaved. I do not have a set conclusion as to what has caused these marks yet, however, I suspect that this deer along with the others in its small herd (who all have similar marks) have found a food source that is surrounded by tape wire or barbed wire and they can’t pass up.

Got to encounter and photograph my first Prairie Rattlesnake a couple weeks ago. This was definitely a different experience and something that can get you’re heart beating. Did you know that’s these snakes have heat sensitive pit organs that allow the snake to sense it’s prey. Because the organs are on the side of the head it provides the snake with a three-dimensional view of the heat source allowing snakes to make accurate strikes even if they’re blind.
