One of the objectives of NEEF is to support options that promote education and stewardship of water in the Nechako and Cheslatta watersheds. To support this objective, grants are available for projects that fit the criteria. NEEF announces amendment to decisions for allocation of funds. Under the amended decisions, funds will be made available on an annual basis until 2050 or longer. Funds are available for projects as follows: $7.4 Million @ $200,000/year is allocated to Cheslatta Watershed... $27.2 Million @ $850,000/year is allocated to Nechako Watershed $6.4 Million @ $200,000/year is allocated to Post-Secondary Research An option remains for BC and Rio Tinto to jointly allocate all uncommitted funds to a major project such as building a spillway at Kenney Dam. The Rio Tinto BC Works Sustainability Report 2017. A record breaking year including, $644,00 towards environmental initiatives in the Nechako Wateshed and 12,000 juvenile sturgeon released into the Nechako River as part of the White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative.
