May is Root Canal Awareness month and TODAY is National Root Canal Day. What is a root canal?? When bacteria enters the nerve of the tooth (through a crack or cavity), an infection can start in the root of a tooth. A root canal is performed to clean out this infection and then reshape and seal the canal. The procedure finishes with a crown being placed on the tooth to help keep it strong. Painful or swollen gums, sensitivity to hot or cold, or pain when touching the tooth are all signs to visit your dentist. FUN FACT: Dr. Dan can do root canals right here in Neepawa! #neepawa #dentist #manitobadentist

Receding gums and teeth grinding can also be a cause for exposed dentin. Book an appointment with your dentist if you are experiencing these symptoms- a hypersensitivity varnish can be applied to help combat the pain immediately! #neepawa #dentist #manitobadentist
