Now this picture signified the end of a raodtrip I took through #quebec at the end of August. I was introduced to this #microbrasserie when I was up in #lamalbaie. I had dinner with a couple of friends at Restaurant La Marmite. This #stoutbeer from #microbrasseriecharlevoix is out of #baiesaintpaul in #quebeccanada. This #imperialmilkstout was a full body, rich tasting, and long finishing #quebecbeer. It certainly isn’t a meal replacement, but with it’s milky rich taste, ...you only need one. It’s a nice starter before moving into an amber or #darklager. 40-minute run I can probably do it in 35 door to door, but will have to be dressed to go. It’s 2:08PM on Sunday. TV muted, I thought to myself that I hadn’t eaten all day. I had been feeling for the Son of a Rise from #lazydaisycafe, but had been dragging my feet. I looked at a mobile app, but with less than a half hour ‘til closing I could only place an order by calling.... Can I get a takeout, I asked. She told me to hold. OkWhat would you like? Now this breakfast sandwich is on a butter country biscuit. When you bite into it, it actually holds up well. Filled with an egg, smoked bacon, white cheddar, baby spinach and garlic mayo. What I tend to forget is the avocado. It throws me off at first bite. As I chew through I remember how it melds the layers together. It will be ready in 10 minutes, she ends with. Great, thanks, then I proceed to get ready and go. Driving, I think about #canadiancraftbeer. #godspeedbrewey becomes the obvious choice. I parked, then walk past the #craftbrewer. I turn left at #gerrardstreeteast to what appears to be a line of one. It was man and his son waiting with a max of 3 patrons inside. A lady walks over to him with another child. I’m a little annoyed. It’s cold, and I’m not trying to wait any longer than needed. She felt it, if not noticed, and decided her husband’s acknowledgement was enough and continued to walk to their intended destination. A lady and child leaves the store, allowing him to enter. He tries to place an order at which point an employee stated, We’re closed. He comes out saying They’re closed. I look at him blankly and proceeded to walk in. We’re closed. And I stated, I have already order. Are you Mark she repliesPaid and now leaving, I pass 3 more stubbornly trying to enter. I hear in the background We’re closed, turning right at #coxwellavenue. Not wanting to get ticketed I hurriedly grabbed 6 #ontcraftbeer, #paperbags in the car and headed home. 2:48PM, I’m home. Next time I’ll do it in 35.

Daytrip number 3 in the summer 2020, June 28th. Back to #princeedwardcounty for more #pecwine. First stop was the last on daytrip number 1, #clossonchasevineyards. We did the #winetasting. What stood out to me in #thecounty was their Chardonnay. Stainless steel finish. I had grabbed one a couple weeks, so I knew what to expect. What I found when visiting #clossonchase, then #normanhardiewinery and #rosehallrun, were certain traits among the winemakers. This is my observation... on one of those traits. A quirkiness. An apparent social awkwardness with a clear desire to belong. One in which an overcompensation can teeter on being misconstrued. One member of the #winetour implored me not to post on one of these stops due to public indiscretion laid against a winemaker. Did it throw me off? Yes! My conclusion is to let the #ontariowine sell itself and try harder to stay out of the way. At the end of the day, I’m just a consumer coming out to spend money. So, the last thing I want is a sales job on me. When #tastingwine it can be hit and miss on which #wineconsultant you have pouring. There was a shortness in their approach at times or an apathy to delve into the selected #princeedwardcountywines. Once challenged, they claimed to no longer be a #wineexpert. My hope is as prices inevitably will goes up, service levels should be expected to rise with it. Too much to ask? I went back to a couple of these #ontariowineries. So, let me be clear here, I have a collection of all of their #ontariowines sitting at homes. Before heading to Pearl Morrisette for dinner this weekend, I picked up some Rieslings in Beamsville. This will get me through the early part of Winter. I did a review last week on the 2017 fromOrganized Crime. I picked up a couple of the Wild Ferment, with one ready to drink placed in the fridge. Probably will open it tomorrow after work. The Wild Cask from Thirty Bench is a nice change from the stainless-steel offerings they carry. The 2017 Triangle Vineyard was my jam in the summer. But I found the Wild Cask pairs well with food in general. So, I’ll bring it out when hosting. What Riesling doesn’t pair well with a board anyway. My Beamsville Winter Rieslings.
