It was an exciting day today! One of our 6-year-olds finished her number role from 1 to 1000. We went outside to unroll it for the first time since she started writing. 1000 sure is a big number!

This month the children in Casa 1 have been learning about Inukshuks at their nature table and have been practicing balancing the stones to make some. Yesterday, they had the opportunity to create their own Inukshuks that they glued together so they can be kept as a keepsake. Each one is unique and so creative!

Many children are working with the Sandpaper Letters right now! The direct purpose of the Sandpaper Letters is to teach children the sounds of the alphabet by means of muscular and visual memory. The children are encouraged to trace the symbol over and over again until the shape of the letter becomes a part of their muscle memory. Children are then encouraged to practice writing these sounds - first on a chalkboard and then on paper. ... Once they a familiar with some of the sounds, they can move on to do work with the Moveable Alphabet.
