Our good friends @robertlangenag are organizing a crucial event to raise funds for the food bank of Waterloo Region. Empty Bowls returns to Laurier on Thursday, June 3 from 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. for its 12th annual event. We have planned some exciting additions to the event including, a silent auction, musical entertainment, soup demonstrations, and a special live painting performance! Similar to last year, the first 125 registrants will be eligible to receive a bowl created... by a member of the Waterloo Potters' Workshop. 100% of the proceeds from this event goes towards The Food Bank of Waterloo Region to raise awareness of food insecurity and alleviate hunger in our community. Have you attended already in past years? We are grateful for your past Empty Bowls support and hope you will join us again this year. Help us reach our goal. #food #wrfoodbank #foodinsecurity #community #communitycomingtogether #kindness #empathy #solidarity See more

We have an excellent year lined up. Innovative. Exciting. Fresh. We have some amazing things we are going to release on YouTube this year. Don't miss a thing. Go and click that link and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.... https://www.youtube.com/user/NerudaArts And while you are there - check out some of the videos posted there - Kultrun 2019 is just over 8 minutes that will bring you back to Victoria Park. Remember? Excellent world music, the smell of many cultures of food colliding in the air and tantalizing your taste buds into submission, dancing, sunshine, hugging - loving life in KWs most diverse music festival. We'll be back. Some photos to remind you what we've been missing...

Without our volunteers we wouldn’t be able to learn, to keep strong and to stay relevant. Our volunteers often teach us new ways and motivate us to continue advocating for the arts. Arts is at the heart of our well being and Volunteers are the drivers that help us keep our programming going. We miss you at Kultrun festival and we hope that soon we will work, dance and laugh together again ! #volunteer #volunteerweek #art #community

This year has been difficult for everyone, but spring is a season that brings hope hope that there is a light at the end of this long tunnel, and hope that you are all safe and well, and not cutting your own hair. In the words of Pablo Neruda, All paths lead to the same goal: to convey to others what we are. And we must pass through solitude and difficulty, isolation and silence in order to reach the enchanted place where we can dance our clumsy dance and sing our sorrowfu...l song. All of us at Neruda Arts have not stopped creating, producing and presenting. We've adapted to COVID-19, and when things are safer for us all, we shall hit the ground running. We are busy designing an exciting year - ready to shift, change and modify our programming as restrictions lift, and life returns to something approaching normal. Because of COVID-19, in order to re-evaluate our role as presenters in the Waterloo Region, we have focused on supporting the artists in more interesting ways. EXCITING NEWS. Thanks to the generous folks at Quarry Marketing in St. Jacobs, and grants from the Waterloo Region Arts Fund and Heritage Canada, Neruda Sound on Sound (SOS), a recording studio, among other things, will soon become a reality. We feel an affordable studio is needed in the region. Providing a space for artists to create - (audio and visual), will augment their visibility as an artist, heighten their profile, increase their audience and level the playing field. KULTRÚN WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL is being moved to the fall. We will present live events (fingers crossed), but on a smaller scale. The extra months will afford us time time for people to heal, time for people to be safe in numbers. We will also be adding some wonderful hybrid events online but always, with a difference. We have some amazing music and interactive workshops in mind. AND STILL SHE PERSISTS will be video presentations of women in music in the Waterloo Region, with a particular focus on BIPOC, and other marginalized women. These are just a few of the things to come. Together, we will get through this, and in the near future, we will be celebrating, making music, singing, dancing, and hugging. Please keep following us to keep up with everything that's going on. Follow us on Twitter - https://twitter.com/NerudaArts
