This afternoon, our Middle School gathered together on Zoom to begin the conversation about what happened in Washington D.C. and why it matters to us in Canada. The main points of the conversation focused around democracy. While democracy provides citizens with a say, it also allows people to hold opinions other than ours. The challenge that we face is to learn how to strongly disagree with other people and their opinions while still respecting them. A peaceful society dep...ends on this. Our students also learned the Mishna that encourages each of us to pray for the government of the land because regardless of whom we vote for, the institutions which uphold the law ultimately benefit us. We concluded by encouraging our students to become the type of people who help build a strong and respectful society. See more

This morning, our Elementary students in Grades 1-5, students in the school building and at home, enjoyed a FANTASTIC assembly in honour of Chanukah and Rosh Chodesh. We said a full Hallel together led by Rabbi Diamond and Rabbi B, heard Chanukah songs, watched a Chanukah play and ended it off with the Maacabeats. Chanukah Sameach and Chodesh Tov!!!

We commemorate the self-sacrifice of Abraham by going to a river bank . Tashlich comes from the Hebrew word meaning "to cast," referring to the intent to cast away our sins via this meaningful and ancient Jewish custom. ....
