Wheatland roots! Above is an aerial shot (from 1987) of my childhood home - the trees are much bigger today! My dad built this family home in 1960 - and it was there that he and my mother raised 11 kids and lived for the next 39 years. My parents had immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1953 on the day that they were married. ... Dad was a successful carpenter and builder in and around the Wheatland County area, and Mom was a tireless organizer and manager of the family and the farm - did I mention the 11 kids! Chickens, cows, pigs and a huge garden and even a man made pond off the creek stocked with trout - the farm was full of adventure and hard work. Blessed to have the lessons and opportunities of growing up there.
