Though I did get a negative covid test result today, I know that I have something. As well we are still waiting on my husband's test results. In the interest of public safety, we are canceling Thrifty Saturday for this week only. See you next week. You will be missed.

Our phones are still not working properly - actually worse now instead of better, and it appears that we cannot receive calls. We will try to monitor the facebook page closely until this gets sorted out, so if you cannot reach us by telephone, please send a private message this way and we will respond as we are able!

Phones are still causing us grief!!! Mostly with calls getting dropped, but we still have difficulty calling out at times! If it seems like we hung up on you....please know that we didn't...and if your call isn't being returned, it's because we are trying but can't! Please bear with us, until someone figures it out!

A huge Thank you to Ms. Fraser and the grade 2/3 class of Crescent Park Elementary for their donation of new toys for our Christmas store. These items will definitely help put smiles on many faces this Christmas!

Good evening wonderful community. I know everyone is frustrated and worried. This is new to us all and things have been a little wild for everyone. For those who don't know me, I am the Executive Director at Networks Ministries and we take care of the people in our community that struggle with food security. I spoke with a couple of our grocery stores today and here's the deal, all the panic buying has emptied the shelves. Empty shelves make other people panic. It makes it lo...ok like there is a food shortage. This is not the case but there are only so many trucks to bring more food into our community. Because so much of the product has been bought up our shelves are looking pretty thin in our grocery stores. I get it and there is no set of instructions on what should we be doing in this situation. We need to stop and remember not everyone can afford to stock up. My concern is this, Friday is Child Tax Credit day and for many of our families who are in poverty that check is their opportunity get groceries, for so many they're homes their entire social assistance check goes to their rent. If you can look in your cupboards and freezer and know that your able to figure out a week's worth of food out of what you have, would you just take a little break from buying groceries this weekend? To put it in perspective a single person on Social assistance lives on $760/m. That is rent food everything! They will get their money next Wednesday. The burden on our low-income homes and the food banks that serve them just went up considerably. If you can slow down please do and if you can give a little extra to the local food banks we will be needing it. Let's be good neighbors Thanks. Please share.. #povertysucks
