Roblox is now a massively popular experience creation tool, possibly in response to the ongoing Epic v. Apple trial. Roblox allows a variety of user-created projects on its platform, and until earlier this week, these were all grouped under a tab called Games on Roblox’s website. Roblox creators could create and manage games through an editor, and individual games had a user limit called max players. That’s all changed now. The Games tab now reads Discover on the we...b, although it still points to an address of roblox.com/games. Developers can create and manage experiences, and experiences have max people allowed. The word game has been replaced by experience across nearly the entire Roblox website, and the iOS and Android apps now have a Discover tab instead of a Games tab although both apps are currently classed as games in their respective stores. The term ‘experiences’ is consistent with how we’ve evolved our terminology to reflect our realization of the metaverse, a Roblox spokesperson told The Verge. Roblox is an online community where people do things together in virtual worlds, and over the years, we began referring to these worlds as experiences, as they better represent the wide range of 3D immersive places from obbys to virtual concerts that people can enjoy together with their friends.

Rhythm games might be a dime a dozen within the VR fitness space, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less beneficial to helping you stay in shape while you play video games. With that in mind, the growing subgenre is soon set to receive another notable game of this type within the coming month, although the way in which it works compared to some other titles is quite different. Coming from developer PotamWorks, Smash Drums is a new rhythm game that sees you, well, playing drum...s. Much like other titles in his genre, Smash Drums sends a wave of symbols toward you that you have to hit in unison with the music that is playing in the background. In Smash Drums, though, those symbols are meant to look like pieces of a drum set. The two controllers that you hold in each hand appear in-game as drum sticks. So basically, you have to drum in mid-air to the beat of the music. In addition, the game features 21 different songs that you can play from some notable indie bands to go along with leaderboards so that you can compete with friends. What sets Smash Drums apart from other games in this space is that while titles like Supernatural and Beat Saber might have you only facing one direction, Smash Drums sends the corresponding symbols to you that you need to hit from a full 360-degrees. This means that you’ll have to move your body far more than you might in other similarly constructed rhythm games. That being said, Smash Drums won’t require you to constantly be turning in circles and will instead slowly have you maneuver your body around in different ways.

In full VR, push, pull, press and hack everything you can find in an attempt to activate th...is lumbering beast and make your escape. The game is being developed as a collaboration between Spare Parts Oasis and VR development studio Sylphe Labs. It’s actually a reimagining of one of Spare Parts Oasis’ previous games their 2019 title Nauticrawl. Spare Parts have teamed up with Sylphe Labs to take the original rogue-lite puzzle game and turn it into a VR title with a fully explorable 3D space inside the mech.
