Shipping goods to Latin American can be a challenge for businesses outside the region. Laws, regulations, language barriers, custom-office forms, trucking and vehicle registration requirements, lack of routing options, and a plethora of other issues can block companies from getting their freight to its destination in a timely and cost-effective manner. DRIP met up with Joseph Kazmi during #CargoLogisticsExpo , Sales Representative for CMS Shipping (Canadian Maritime Shipping)... to speak about #CMSShipping's freight-forwarding services. CMS Shipping is headquartered in Montreal, QC, with offices in Toronto, ON, Calgary AB, and an expanding presence in Latin America. CMS has a physical presence in the Latin American region and over time has built numerous relationships with transportation & importing industry affiliates to give Canadian companies and other North American businesses a simpler and more cost-effective means for transporting goods into Mexico, and further south into countries like Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, Argentina, and all over Central and South America. CMS has warehouses and special insurance offers, as well as agents in the LATAM market who help oversee the transportation and delivery of shipped merchandise into the countries in the region. Affiliates of CMS can also help with customs brokerage. All together, Kazmi emphasizes that companies who work with CMS can take advantage of exceptional cost savings for all their Latin American freight needs. CMS boasts a network of over 5000 carriers that do mostly ground shipment directly into Mexico, however they also operate in air and ocean shipments. "We find was to get cargo there," says Kazmi, "if it's by air, ocean, or even sometimes donkey, we make anything happen." Trey Griggs, Global Sales Director at Hubtek sits down with Jeff Lantz, President/CEO of C.L. Services to find out how HÜBTEK RPA (Robotic Process Automation) brings efficiencies and benefits to the C.L. Services office. C.L. Services is a 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) and Supply Chain company that provides shipping and freight transportation across North America. Running a nation-wide 3PL requires an abundance of daily office tasks including data entry, bill processing, proof-...of-delivery reconciliation, and invoicing. These back-office tasks are common among any freight brokerage and transportation company, and often keep employees restricted from higher-level, creative, revenue-generating tasks. Robotic Process Automation is the process of taking these daily back-office, data entry and transfer tasks and programming a task-automation bot to handle them much more efficiently and at much higher speed. Jeff and Trey speak in detail about the business benefits of the HÜBTEK RPA software including faster handling of exceptions as well as an improved customer experience. Trey also highlights one of the most important benefits, freeing up time for employees to perform business development, account management, and customer engagement work. Despite the high demand for people in the supply chain management industry, Jeff brings up high cost of labor and health care as a challenge for his business. Jeff describes C.L. Services "in high-growth mode", meaning there are additional challenges finding the talent to work in the back-office. Data entry tasks can be an absolute nuisance to business owners and their employees. And unfortunately, invoice reconciliation, time-ticket entry, billing, P.O.D documents, and a cornucopia of other data-transfer tasks are mandatory in any almost any business's back-office. So what can business owners do to decrease the labour requirements of these mundane tasks? At the 2020 #CargoLogistics Canada Show in Vancouver, British Columbia, DRIP met with Trey Griggs, Global Sales Di...rector at Hubtek to find out how artificial intelligence is being used to eliminate manual back-office processes and create greater efficiencies in a company's workforce. #HÜBTEK is a workforce optimization company offering Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Staff Augmentation solutions for businesses in almost any industry. So what is #RoboticProcessAutomation? Trey describes it as having a lot of uses; automating anything from a back-office process such as processing invoices to other mundane data-entry tasks. RPA even helps facilitate integrations between software companies and technology providers, eliminating the need for the two companies to integrate together an often lengthy and costly process because automation is kept on the user layer. Who doesn't love a freshly picked berry? We met up with Andrew Rosychuk, a haskap berry farmer from Alberta, who traveled across the western United States and Canada in search of the best berry picking machine in the world. He eventually discovered JAGODA, a Polish company which manufacturers harvesters for currants, haskaps, aronia, and raspberries called the JAREK 5, little-known outside of Europe (though they are largest producer of half-row harvesters and automatic weedin...g machines in Europe) but primed to make a big impact in the North American farming and agriculture markets. The quality of products and affable service from JAGODA was so impressive to Andrew that he now sells JAGODA-made equipment locally, making it the first time #JAGODA has had a major presence in North American trade-show markets. At the 2020 Pacific Agriculture Show, crowds were gathered to see JAGODA products, which Andrew says are priced competitively, especially compared with over-the-row harvesters. The JAREK 5 can harvest 10 cm above the ground, so low-hanging fruit is easily picked off the berry bush. This is especially useful for blueberry farmers, who lose much of their fruit during picking season because their equipment doesn't reach it. Innovative berry-drop technology means there is very little berry drop outside of the catch basins, so farmers yield more of their crops without having to hand-pick berries in the field. Andrew's emphasis on the quality of service from the JAGODA representatives in Poland makes it seem that this company truly cares about its customers; however, we obviously couldn't put that to the test ourselves so we'll have to take his word for it. Bobcat Square Dance, Robotic Farms, & Water Efficiency Featured At The 2020 Pacific Agriculture Show DRIP was onsite from Jan 30 Feb 1, 2020 to speak with heavy equipment providers, robotic farming tech developers, irrigation system specialists, and a cornucopia of country folk that make up British Columbia's exciting agriculture industry; farmers, ranchers, bee keepers, berry pickers, and a couple farm animals to boot! The event is put on at the Tradex centre and features... new earthmoving, irrigation, and farming equipment and technology from the likes of Leavitt Machinery Highlands Irrigation, Jagoda, and Lely. We spoke with a number of booths at the event to understand what's on farmers' minds and learn how the industry wide adoption of innovative technologies and equipment are reducing labour, increasing farming and agriculture efficiency, and lessening environmental impacts; specifically by reducing water consumption with automated irrigation systems. Every year, one of the show's highlights is the Bobcat Square Dance, where talented skid steer operators synchronize movements to your favourite country hits. It was a pretty rainy day but they persevered through to put on a show for the happy crowds gathered under tents in the stands. The event is family friendly, filled with farmers old and young checking out new systems and tech to bring back to their ranches. We interviewed Stump Lake Ranch (a cattle farm near Kamloops, BC) to learn about cutting-edge irrigation systems from Highlands Irrigation (the water people) and how it reduces costs and water consumption while yielding bigger and more consistent crops - stay tuned for the full feature coming soon. Check out our other videos to see our interviews from the event and subscribe to the DRIP YouTube Channel and more trade show coverage ahead. Yee-ha! https://youtu.be/OyJDfPXdFgU

At the 2020 Pacific Agriculture Show DRIP met up with Kevin Bitter, Sales Manager at Leavitt Machinery who looks after the Agriculture Division for Western Canada and the Northern United States. This is Leavitt's fifth year at the event, where they're able to touch base with repeat customers as well as make new relationships with curious farmers and agriculture workers. #Leavitt was established in 2001, selling to the agricultural market for about 11 years. At this year's eve...nt, the Leavitt booth featured the Manitou MLT product line (MLT 625-75H), telescopic loaders that coincide with the agricultural market because of the wide variety of material handling capabilities. Customer reactions to the telescopic loader model MLT 652-75H were very positive. Old customers enjoy seeing new innovative designs and products while new prospects get a sample of what Leavitt has to offer and can ask questions about any of the equipment at the show or at the Leavitt branches. Leavitt carries 29 different product lines under their brand including CAT Lift Trucks, Mitsubushi Forklifts, Hyundai Material Handling, SkyTrak, Genie (Terex), Aisle-Master, Wacker Neuson, Motrec, Tico, Carer, and of course, the Manitou telescoping handlers featured at this year's Pacific Agriculture Show. This large variety of equipment and brands makes Leavitt a one-stop shop for agricultural workers in need of farming equipment and technology; everything from lifting, feeding, and bucket-work purposes to light towers, generators, and boom-lifts. Kevin is a big fan of the #PacificAgricultureShow, saying it offers attendees a flavour of local agricultural offerings as well as what trends are coming down the pipeline in the industry.
