A funny story! Sit down, grab a coffee, and enjoy. :) Story shared with permission by the author, Fiona Lockhart, who lives in England. I lived miles out of town on a rural property , nice undulating paddock , cute little gullies sometimes filled with water etc. Looking out from the verandah one morning spotted my dear old Robbie , aged 27 , festooned in the ruins of his summer rug combo. He had upended the entire ensemble over his head and was manfully trying to struggle b...ack to the feed bins. My thoughts of injury and vet bills spurred me on so I took off across country in bra and undies and gumboots to rescue the old fuckwit. It wasn't too bad , broken leg straps, so I set the whole thing straight on him to save carrying it back and thought I'd lead him back by the neck rug. But then I had a better idea... I'd RIDE him back and steer by the neck rug. What could possibly go wrong? The fucker was 27 and lazy as all shit. So I scrambled on and was feeling pretty pleased with myself , a nice bonding moment with the dear old fella , and then my gumboot fell off.... Well , he had , in his youth been known to shy quite spectacularly and for some reason I had forgotten that , that bastard shot out from under me at lightspeed and I'm pretty sure I was left suspended in air for a split second but adrenalin kicked in and i hung on to that rug for dear life...grabing handfuls of neck rug and trying to regain some sort of composure. Nope. Didn't work. He went fucking mental , careening around the paddock , my other gumboot flying off spurred him on to greater gymnastic achievement and he shied violently the other way, realigning my spine nicely.. We shot off towards the house and for a minute I thought I may actually stay on , that thought was short-lived though , because we had to cross a gully. Now that mongrel hated water and wouldn't jump for shit but not today...he leapt into it like a war horse, but it had a lot more water in it than he had anticipated and it slowed him down somewhat . At this point I reached critical lean, and , still with a death grip on the neck rug , toppled off taking the whole lot with me... It stopped him in his tracks for a bit , as he now had a muddy , wet , gasping , sobbing anchor still clutching his rug ,to contend with. But undaunted , he squelched his way out of the bog with a big sucky sound and bolted for home , rug remains flying about and farting and bucking as he went. I crawled out crying , covered in mud , in my underwear , with gravel rash and absolutely no dignity. By the time I limped home he was happily standing by the feed bin , in his remnants, and looked up with a hopeful whinny that I might feed him. I had a brief word with him. Fuck. Off. See more
I'm not sure how many people will remember our old mare Brooke who passed away a few years ago. She was Siomonn's first horse and was such a sweet mare that always took care of him. Well tonight, I was contacted by a women who owns of of Brookes foals (Dragons Wave - 2009). She was kind enough to send me some pictures of 'Gracie' and I certainly see the resemblance, especially in the head! Brooke was 17 when we purchased her from an auction. After fattening her up and giving her love and attention, Brooke became a very reliable pleasure horse and took care of her riders! She is still dearly missed but its just so great to see her daughter absolutely thriving in her 2nd career since retiring from her racing days! First 2 pictures are of Gracie. 3rd picture is of Brooke.

We look forward to 2021 and all it will have to offer. We will be hosting both a hunter series and a jumper series next year, so keep diligent to keep covid away and controlled. We hope to be able to announce a small surprise in the next few months! Happy New Year to everyone. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, and happy new year!

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
For your consideration; Teddy is a 15 year old Haflinger gelding that stands at a stocky 13.3hh. Teddy is used here on the farm for beginner and intermediate riders. He does both ring work and trail rides quietly. He isn't in a consistent program so hes a bit on the chunky side at the moment. He has primarily been used as a walk / trot horse however I have cantered him before without any issues, he just needed a lot of leg and had a hard time keeping it so I feel he would be ...happiest as a walk / trot pony. Prior to us owning him, Teddy was used in a therapeutic riding program for 4 years where he was handled by all levels of riders. He doesn't have the fancy buttons or a lead change but hes safe and lazy. Perfect for a kid looking to learn and have fun with, or an adult that just wants a walk / trot steady eddy for pleasure riding and trails. Teddy does have a sarcoid on his head. The vet has seen it and we just finished a 9 week treatment. The vet has since said that he has no concerns about it and doesn't feel that it will cause him any future issues. He does have a cough at the moment. Vet checked that as well and believes it to just be a simple respiratory infection (cold) so he is currently getting respifree once a day to help clear it up. He can also be hard to catch from the field, however he will come for grain or treats everytime. Gets grain once a day and lives outside 24/7. UTD on vaccines and he is barefoot. Will only let him go to a forever home where he can live out the rest of his life. No schooling barns please. This little dude is looking for his own rider that can spoil and love him. Asking $ 2 5 0 0 Located in Omemee, ON Recent videos of him and a beginner rider are available.
Well the horses don't seem too impressed with the snow but everyone is warm and happy with full bellies for the night!
We know this is not about a horse, but...it's about a camel!!! What a nice feel-good story about Bubba. https://www.facebook.com/thedodosite/videos/800392943748495
We are very proud that Jury passed the Canadian Warmblood Mare Inspection! They said that one day, when she is ready, she will make beautiful babies! Jury was perfectly behaved at the inspection and stood quietly for the viewing. She is in a training program for the winter so she can be ready to show next year! Thank you, Jenny Campbell, for showing her at the inspection. You were both fantastic!
Piggy piggy piggy is looking for a new home. Two males, both neutered. Have lived in both the house and the barn. Nice boys about 5 years old, both neutered. Send a message if you are interested. Would prefer to send them to a good home together.
Such a pretty sunset tonight!
Excellent opportunity to visit the Royal....right in your home! Or, right from your classroom!
Ginger is back!!! Ginger has spent the last year on lease to a wonderful rider named Abby at a stable in Erin, Ontario. Abby loved her so much. She trained and trained, enjoyed, rode, and had fun. Abby and Ginger did the Silver Series at Angelstone, and they were always in the ribbons even with the very large class sizes! We are very proud of both Abby and Ginger. We missed Ginger terribly while she was gone and have decided to keep her here with us at the farm. Abby, whenever you come up this way to the cottage, make sure you stop in to say hi to Ginger! She will miss you. Thank you for taking such good care of our baby. <3

Today we said goodbye to one of our longest residents. Tess came to the farm in 2013 and although we've had quite a few horses come and go over the years, Tess was always part of our family and will always be in our hearts. We love you Tessy State Of Emergency aka Tess January 1996 - September 2020
Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, r...eaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be. -Zig Ziglar #mondaymotivation Photo by Cealy Tetley
