New Denver Hospice is offering an opportunity for our community members to come together in a small safe group and process their grief through journaling and art therapy. Space is limited so if you're interested please let us know as soon as possible. The dates are Mondays from 1-4 pm Sept 28, Oct 5, 19, 26. Nov 2 & 9 at the Slocan Lake Arts Centre aka Silverton Gallery. This bereavement program sponsored by the New Denver Hospice Society is modeled after the successful prog...ram developed by Susan Breiddal of Victoria Hospice Society. Facilitators Sue Mistretta, M.A. (Silverton), and Alice Watson, M.E.d. (Burton) will provide a safe, supportive & confidential space for participants to explore their grief and to discover a healing journey that cultivates compassion and acceptance for the array of intense feelings & confusing thoughts experienced through loss. The program is open to anyone who is going through a grieving process after losing someone close to them, whether the loss is recent or in the distant past. We will explore grief through writing exercises (journaling), collage, and other simple art processes. Participants will learn hands-on skills for dealing with life after loss and working through difficult emotions. No experience in writing or art is needed. Participants in past workshops have found this workshop highly beneficial to their understanding of the grief process and with adapting to life after loss. PROGRAM FEE: $50.00 (All learning materials are provided). For more information please contact Sue @ 358-2177 (opt 2) [email protected] or Alice @265-3328 [email protected] To register email [email protected] "Art therapy" image by Save the Children Canada is licensed under CC BY 2.0

There is no cost and no obligation to volunteer, simply an opportunity to find out what hospice is all about and learn more about how to support those with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
