We (lifeguards and aquatic peeps) get this. We know this and actively teach this to our Bronze students but maybe all of us need to share it with our non aquatic friends as the summer approaches.

Most children in New England are taught to swim, but the local branch of the YMCA is venturing into the less-charted waters of drowning prevention. Thanks to a ...partnership between the Center Elementary School and the Easton branch of the Old Colony YMCA, dozens of second-graders are learning water safety techniques through the Water Wise Program. They’re mastering how to help others who are drowning, how to save their energy if they’re in danger of drowning, and how to keep their parents informed about when and where they’re swimming.
