Tomorrow (Feb. 6) on NFR... Have you got the mid-winter blahs? Are you bloated from a steady feed of the doom and gloom dished out by the news media? Well, we've got a tonic that just might turn you frown upside down. This episode of NFR offers a strong dose of cheerful ditties designed to chase away your blues and put you on top of the world!... But wait... There's more!! We also shine the spotlight on the American singer-songwriter-actor legend who, at 85 years old, recently announced his retirement. We'll hear KRIS KRISTOFFERSON's music covered by NL musical pioneers THE RISING SONS, GORD COMPANION, THE HARMONY FOUR, and PIERCE CULL. Airs Saturday at NOON NT on CHMR 93.5 FM in St. John's and www.chmr.ca no matter where you're at! For all stations and air times check out the schedule page at www.newfoundrecords.ca

A slight delay getting this one out as I did not have a copy. Thanks to Wayne Tucker who I'm sure has a copy of every NL record ever made. This song is proof th...at you can be both an athlete and an artist at the same time. The Ring family were part of the Regatta crew that broke the long held record time of 9:13. They then recorded this song commemorating their achievement. Only in NL right? See more

Today (Nov. 21) on NFR... "ROY PAYNE - SONGS HE NEVER SANG". Trout River’s Roy Payne is one of Newfoundland & Labrador’s most prolific songwriters. You may know Roy for his more popular compositions such as "The Little Boats of Newfoundland", "There’s No Price Tags on the Doors of Newfoundland", "I Wouldn’t Trade A Million Dollars for A Single Maple Leaf", "Outlaw Heroes", and "The Ol’ Fishing Hole". His songs have been covered by luminaries like George Hamilton IV, Tommy Hu...nter, Laura Repo, Stompin’ Tom Connors, and Dick Nolan. A multitude of local artists have also recorded Roy’s numbers, and Payne himself has recorded most of his material on his multitude of singles, Lps, and CDs. But there is also a rather small cluster of Roy Payne’s compositions which Roy didn’t record himself, but other artists did. And it’s those obscurities that New Found Records focuses on for this week’s episode. Airs first at NOON NT SATURDAY NOV. 14 on CHMR 93.5 FM in St. John's and on www.chmr.ca planet-wide! For all stations & air times, check out the SCHEDULE Page online at www.newfoundrecords.ca.

Lots of great pics and memories of Ron Hynes today on this 5th year of his passing. We played together a lot during 1978 - 1980 and again later in the Hank Williams Show. Fun times for sure.

The #CelticWakeUp send their condolences to the family of Doug Laite who passed away last week at 80 years of age. He was most well known for hosting "All Aroun...d The Circle" on CBC, a show which made Ray Walsh, John White, and Joan Morrissey household names. We will pay tribute to him next week with a set paying tribute to Doug and the show, "All Around the Circle" with songs from those musicians who made the show the history making show it was.
