Our delivery yesterday of 600 pounds of local Island mussels is a lot less than last years 2000 pounds. But pleased to be able to support local suppliers and do what we can under the current restrictions. #staysafe. #supportlocal

With all the changes we have seen in the World this year, we are trying to make your NGLS experience a familiar one but also take the time to ensure the safety of our staff and our visitors. Please view this video to see what you can expect during the visit with us.
Its Canada Day and we are open today at 4pm! Call to make your reservation. 902-964-2870
Currently, we along with all restaurants on PEI can only seat 50 people per dining room at any given time. This is what our main dining room looks like with 50 seats and Tables 6 feet apart. At 50% capacity we could still seat almost 150 people socially distanced and safely. Anyone want to dance? Our floors are beaming!
It's a big day for us, as we open our doors today for our 62nd season BUT it's an even bigger day for 10 of our employees who are graduating from Bluefield today. Congrats to Colton, Rhiannon, Aidan, Reid, Eric, Jenna, Jaelyn, Mackayla, Kaitlyn and Karley! We are so proud of you and all you have done to get here, enjoy your day - you earned it!
Just a reminder that we are NOT open on Father's Day. But still wish all you dads out there a Happy Father's Day. Our opening day is Wednesday June 24th. We are offering reservations at the following time slots *subject to change. Weekdays time slots are 4pm, 4:15 and 4:30pm and 6pm, 6:15pm and 6:30pm. On Saturday & Sunday our lower level will also be open with available times at 5pm, 5:15 and 5:30pm and 7pm, 7:15 and 7:30pm.... Reservations are highly recommended as we are limited to tables of 6 and maximum of 50 diners per dining room. Please email or call and we will get back to you soon.
We are excited to be opening our doors for the season, Wednesday, June 24th. This date is special for us, as it marks the 62nd anniversary of the first lobster supper served in New Glasgow back in 1958. Things will look different this year but we are dedicated to providing the same great service and food that you have come to expect. Due to Covid-19, we are currently limited to 50 patrons in our dining room at any given time. Groups are also limited to a maximum of 6 people p...er table and are spaced 6ft apart. For this year only we will be accepting reservations for tables of all sizes. As things are continuously changing we will only accept reservations one week in advance and only for specific time slots only. We highly recommend that you make a reservation because of the restrictions we have to follow, walk in's will be limited due to capacity restrictions. We will be calling to confirm all reservations and would appreciate your patience with our new procedures. This is all very new to us and we are all learning how to adapt. We will also have a smaller menu (see website) to choose from this season, but we will be offering the sale of baked goods in the future so stay tuned! Thank you so much for your continued support, because when you support us - you support our staff, our suppliers and our local economy.
Today marks another milestone in NGLS history. 40 years ago today was opening day back in 1980, it is special for 2 reasons. Primarily because it was the first day that The Nicholson & MacRae families began their partnership, having bought out the other founding families. Ironically, it was also the birth of owners Jean and Sterling MacRae's first grand child. Erin, who is currently our Dining Room Manager and brings the 3rd generation of MacRaes into the business. Happy Anniversary to a wonderful partnership and here's to another memorable season!
Happy to provide Rosewood Residence with a few necessities for their lobster suppers. Who can eat lobster without wearing a bib? Looks delicious :)
Van Macleod shared this picture of a blue lobster he says was caught this week! Super cool!
It's Setting Day Eve here in Prince Edward Island! Best wishes to all lobster fishers in our area for a safe season. Although it may look different this year - we can't wait for that all too familiar flavour of Island lobster ;)
It's definitely a Mother's day like no other! We will miss serving all those who make dining with us their Mother's Day tradition. We would like to wish all mothers a wonderful day and hope to see you this summer. We miss you!
What the dining room looks like before you get the okay to open and need to know how far apart tables must be. Hopefully by July we will be able to open for our 62nd season at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers! Even if at half capacity.
An Update from NGLS: We are closely following Dr. Morrison's and Public Health's directions regarding Covid-19 and are anxiously awaiting the decision on the spring lobster fishing season. At this time, we can let you know that we have decided not to open or offer take out dinners for our traditional Mother's day or the Victoria Day weekend.... It is our goal to open our doors for the 2020 season but will only do so once we can ensure the health and well-being of our staff, suppliers and all of you. We remain committed to providing you with the experience that you are used to, while following provincial health gudelines to keep you, your families and our staff safe. We will be updating you as our plans for the 2020 season become clearer but feel free to contact us, should you have any questions. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon. The MacRae & Nicholson families

Today’s edition of Exploring Canada with Canadascope includes New Glasgow Lobster Suppers.
No matter the time of year, New Glasgow is beautiful. Don't you just love the look of big fluffy snowflakes? Well until you have to shovel them.
A few of our little elves would like to wish Merry Christmas to all our friends and family near and far! See you in 2020
Building maintenance happens year round - every 3 years we remove all the tables and chairs so that our dining room floors can be resurfaced. It looks so much bigger without anything in it! Thanks to A to Z Hardwood Flooring, from Richmond PEI who make our floors look their best! #supportlocal #workisneverdone
My focus at NGLS is cleaning up the lobster pound underground holding tanks that store our sea water that keeps the lobster live on premise. This system was ori...ginally designed in 1975 and was the first inland Lobster holding restaurant. We truck our water in as the river is fresh water feed and not enough salt. This holding pound gave us an edge on our competition being able to hold lobster live when no lobster fishing season open from July 1 to August 10 on PEI. There are lots of employees and customers that do not realize that this part of our operation exists. See more
Our last motorcoach tour of the season AND my last deliciously hot roll straight out of the oven. Thanks to everyone who made our 61st season a great one !!

#FunFactFriday Do you know that we employ over 100 employees every season? That is alot of scheduling. We try our best to as flexible as possible to allow our employees to enjoy their summer in addition to working with us. That means scheduling around sports games, family reunions, vacations, other jobs, not to mention class schedules & activities now that school is in session. Today I press send on the last schedule of the season. Definitly having mixed emotions, happy bec...ause its alot of work to make everyone else happy and honestly my brain is tired after a long season. Sad because, it means another season is almost over. We spend alot of time together and our employees really do become part of our #NGLS family. We help each other during the hard times, other times we laugh so hard that we cry! So here's to another successful year of scheduling and thanks to our wonderful staff who make it totally worth the work. See more
2 weeks from today is our last day of the season - why wait till the last minute? Come for a drive to beautiful New Glasgow today!
#FunFactFriday We still have our original guestbook for people to sign! There is just something simple yet satisfying about the pen to paper approach. With all the ways to leave comments this day in age through online platforms such as TripAdvisor, when you flip through the pages of our guest book, you can't help but smile. #thankyou #supportinglocalmakesadifference #traditions
#TBT to the view from what is now the road that The Glasgow Hills Golf Course is on, not a dirt road anymore and alot of those trees have grown so big you can't see us anymore!
Happy first day of Fall! Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere including our dessert. Our pumpkin pie is made from scratch using pumpkins planted, weeded and picked by our local 4H Club in Cavendish. #supportinglocal #4H
It's #FunFactFriday Many people assume that we "grow" our own lobster, this is false. You may ask why, as many things such as salmon, oysters and mussels can be farmed why can't lobster? Lobsters are not easy to raise in captivity. Experiments have been conducted for years trying to find an economic way to raise them without much success.... Two main problems: Problem #1 Lobsters are carnivores and in close quarters will eat each other. Problem #2 Lobsters grow VERY slowly. On average it takes 7 years for a lobster to reach Market size. That's a long time before you would see any profit. Then there are food costs, heating the water to make them grow faster, and treating disease. #AndNowYouKnow #LobsterFunFacts #Lobster #NewGlasgowLobsterSuppers #FoodForThought
This article rings so True for us. We hear it often, "I came here as a child and now I'm bringing my kids (or grandkids)". It is wonderful to see so many groups that have 3 or even 4 generations enjoying their supper together. It's a tradition for many, when the family is home go to New Glasgow Lobster Suppers! #familyownedandoperated #familyfirst #familytradition #greatforallages #since1958 #princeedwardisland
#FunFactFriday Did you know that lobsters can either be right clawed or left clawed? Their Crusher claw can be on either side. Juvenile lobsters start out with two cutters, and one develops into a crusher over time. The larger, crusher claw is of course used for crushing its prey. The smaller of the two claws, the cutter grabs onto meat and shreds it into smaller pieces so that the smallest antennae can carry it into the lobster's mouth.... #andnowyouknow #lobsterfunfacts #lefthanded #funwithlobster #NewGlasgowLobsterSuppers
The Sun is shining and our electricity, phone lines and debit terminals are back on! We will be OPEN tonight from 4 to 8pm. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the last few days, it's been alittle hectic and we are so happy to get back to alittle normalcy. Hope to see you soon! A BIG thanks to the crews working tirelessly to restore power to the Island and also to the fantastic Islanders who have opened their doors to their fellow neighbors. #ProudIslander #BestPlaceToLive #PEI #NewGlasgow #CanadasFoodIsland
