So we took Rio for some fun at paints plus last night and man did he have fun apparently we can make a 12ft 2 stride into a one stride had to adjust it to a 1 stride to a 2 so he didn’t just gallop through. Our 4ft standards were apparently child’s play for him even if he is turning 22 this year.

We purchased Rip'n Rio Z a 17hh, registered Hanoverian Stallion May 2020. We are excited to use him in our warmblood breeding program, as well as a school master for Trish to ride and learn from. He is the son of Olympic qualified Show jumper, Rio Grande, former mount of Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist, Eric Lamaze. Rip'n Rio Z himself has competed successfully in Jumper Classes at the Gold Level to 1.25m in his younger years. He is a brave, talented jumper with three impres...sive gaits and a temperament second to none, can tie him in an arena and ride a horse right past him and he doesn't even blink, most people dont realize he is a stallion because he is so well mannered. Rip'n Rio Z stamps his offspring with his talent, rideability, willingness to work, beautiful movement and conformation. Many of his offspring are competing successfully in all rings with previous owners. We have 5 mare due in 2021 from him. Check back to our website for potential prospects for sale. Please inquire if interested in breeding to Rio for 2021 breeding season to book your spots before they fill. Rio bred 9 mares last year and got 8 of them pregnant most on first heat cycle and the later due ones were because they didnt catch to the other stud they were bred to first. He got them in foal first breeding and some of our mares are older broodmares. We had 3 client mares bred they all caught first cycle. We had to say goodbye to a great 4 legged friend last night. I have had Cosmo for over 21 years. He was going on 30 years and last night it was his time. He wai...ted for us to come home so we could say good bye and died peacefully shortly after. Cosmo was an amazing friend and touched a lot of people that came out to the farm. He was a favourite at camps. The kids used to catch him and ride him around bareback every chance they’d get. He pulled the cart patiently and carted more than one kid around at shows that couldn’t ride because of broken limbs (lol Trish). He was always kind and gentle and will greatly be missed. Rest In Peace old friend. How about every one who knew him shares their favourite memory of him. See more

Whispering Design is one of our older homebred mares, and is bred to Rip N Rio Z, for a 2021 foal. She is out of our old stallion Crimelord, who was a grandson of Secretariat, has proven offspring in the hunter/jumper rings as well as dressage, and has approved offspring in the GOV main mare book. Her Dam Wilderness Design was a Canadian Warmblood Registered Trakehner mare that was one of the original Warmblood mares we owned. Her sire was Rubin a Grand Prix class 1 Trakenhne...r. He was 100 day tested and approved in Germany in 1975. He was imported to Canada in 1985. Rubin was purchased by Norma Knittel of Frosty Meadow Farms in 1993, where he resided until his death in 1996. The German Trakener Stallion Book has him listed as a well defined type with an expressive face, great nobility in his overall appearance. Outstanding trot action, very good canter. See more

Cali (Cadeaux MV) is a new Trakehner mare that we purchased this spring from Meadowview, she is a lovely mare and we have he confirmed in foal to Cree for a 2021 foal and are super excited to see what she throws. Her sire E.H. Herzzauber is an imported Trakehner stallion from Germany. He was the Grand Champion of his Keuring at Neuminster, Germany, in 1990. Herzzauber was extremely successful in his 100-day test in Adelheisdorf, obtaining an over- all test score of 122.9 with... a dressage score of 132. The honor of "Elite Hengst" (Elite Stallion) was bestowed on him in 2000 by the German Trakehner Verband. The Elite status was awarded as a result of the great success of his offspring in competition. E.H. Herzzauber has successfully competed in Prix St Georges/Intermediare I Dressage, with plac- ings at the national level. He has also been shown in combined driving with great success. His temperament is absolutely wonderful. He has a soft, easy to sit back with outstanding paces. He passes these traits on to his offspring. Her dam Castenia was owned by meadowview and there is three other full siblings to Cali that competed successfully that include Cassanova MV, Crown Victoria MV, and Cyrano MV. Castenia’s sire Mozart was Reserve Champion of the 1975 Neumünster approvals. He was performance tested at Klosterhof Medingen in 1976 and was Reserve Champion there as well, then later went on to a successful FEI dressage career. He stood in Germany until 1979 for Emmerthal-Hämelschenburg and then was imported to Holland were he had been accepted as an improvement stallion in the Dutch Warmblood breed. While in Holland he stood at Berkenhoeve and was a Dutch Champion 3 times. In March of 1985 he was imported by Vanda Werner and stood at her Mile High Horse Ranch in Colorado. http://www.newhorizonranch.ca/2021-foals--our-mares.html See more

Our Next mare is Luciana Z is a Zangersheide mare, who is also full sister to Latte Z. We bought a couple years ago she is an older mare but we hope we will get a couple more foals off of her before she retires. So far we have had one Colt by Cree from her, Classic Chrome who was born in 2020, we loved this cross so she is bred back the same way for 2021. Her sire is Lucino Z, who is also the sire of Leeto Z standing at Rosenol performance Horses. Lucino is from a great line ...of sires that include his father Landlord Z who is by Landgraf I. By the end of the 1980's, Landgraf I was rated best amongst all sires that had stood at stud in West Germany, and his sons can be found in most breeding regions throughout the world. Landgraf I became the most important sire of show jumpers in the twentieth century having sired the most money winning show jumping offspring in the World. Luciana’s Dam is Lapiana Z bred by Okanagan Showjumping stables and full sister to their mare Leah Z, and out of one of their foundation stallion Le Sauvage. http://www.newhorizonranch.ca/2021-foals--our-mares.html See more

Well we had all the mares rechecked this morning to see who was still in foal going into the winter. To our surprise, even with quite a few of our broodmares being older they were all still pregnant and the checkups were good. We have 9 mares due next year!! We have 5 from our Stallion Rip N Rio Z, and 4 from Cree owned by Mandala du Lac Warmbloods. More info on the mares we bred and the stallions are attached to the link as well as when they are due. Going to be a busy 2021 for us, we honestly didnt think we would get them all pregnant but Rio is one very fertile guy. If your interested in a 2021 cross message us for more information. we will also be standing Rio to a few outside mares next year as well. http://www.newhorizonranch.ca/2021-planned-foals.html

Our next mare is Fantasia (MaxAPenny) is a 2012 dark bay thoroughbred mare. Everyone that has seen her keeps asking what kind of Warmblood she is, and when we tell them thoroughbred its always a surprise. We bought her from an auction after we liked the look of her, and that a close friend of ours was saying how much she loved the stud she was out of. This will be her first foal and is bred to Rip N Rio Z, also due with dragon on April 30th, 2021. Her Sire Max Forever a stak...es winner Is standing in Alberta currently but was bred in Florida, and raced in New York area. He Earned $244,190 over his racing career, and was sold as a 2 year old for $200,000. Her Dam penny’s flyer was Canadian bred and had life time earnings of $94,668. The Dam’s sire is Claim is a Kentucky bred stud who was also a stakes winner earning $204,258 back in the 80’s. We are hoping this Hanoverian Thoroughbred cross will make a lovely sport horse cross for the hunter/jumper rings. http://www.newhorizonranch.ca/2021-foals--our-mares.html See more

As it is helmet awareness day I would just like to say that I have had 2 helmets save my ass over the years. I have seen iris who wears a helmet every time she ...rides struggle with post concussion syndrome from falls she has taken starting horses over the years. I don’t think helmets should even be a choice they should be mandatory!! I will never not wear a helmet this helmet I broke happened this August on a broke horse. The horse did absolutely nothing wrong it was a trip while cantering that resulted in the horse doing a complete rotational fall (horse was fine) I did an emergency rolling dismount when I felt the horse go down. I walked away with minor whiplash in my neck, my helmet cracked, the dial popped right off from the pressure but I was completely fine. That was riding a broke horse that simply tripped. That could be any horse a lesson horse, your well broke ranch horse, your seasoned show jumping horse. They are animals they can trip they make mistakes just like we do. I just hope my story opens some peoples eyes that my last fall could have been devastating if I wasn’t wearing one. See more

Took the five 2 year olds out to a small pasture for September as the older gentleman who owned it had nothing on it all year, I think they are quite happy considering you can barely see them from the yard it’s so deep. from left to right Symphony, Lorenzo, Rebel, Diego, and Melody.
