Wet, cold weather means indoor recess!
I can't stand to be bored. This lock down is a great chance to catch up on working with the horses. Today's project: Sapphire.
A little more technical that kitten pictures, but this is why we are taking our time starting Sunny under saddle. Horses- like children- need time to mature and grow. For now he is enjoying groundwork training and growing like a weed!
Here comes Crispin! I got to squeeze in a socially distanced visit to my sister's farm before the lock down. Farming runs in the family, even though we grew up in the suburbs. I have my goats , she has her pigs and neither of us have our sanity!
Any bets on how many nights this tree will stay standing? Kittens everywhere!
Merry Christmas to all our friends and followers. The horses got exactly what they asked Santa for... fresh snow!
Friends, we will be closed until the provincial shutdown is lifted. I know these are challenging times and horses provide great stress relief, but we need to focus on keeping our vulnerable safe and healthy. The horses, goats, kittens, Anbi and I will miss everyone. Hopefully if we all stay home and reduce contacts we can be together again by the end of January. All lessons, groups and camps are suspended, but will resume as soon as we are allowed. In the meantime, I'll try to share as much as possible of all the crazy antics everyone gets up to. We are closing from today onward to prepare for the shutdown. Stay safe, everyone
Who is feeling festive? Andis!
Holiday Chance!
Never a dull moment with Anbi around! Volume up for this one :) #thehillsarealive

Oh lord, these kittens are going to give me grey hairs!
Finally Chance has someone close to his age to play with.
Wishing all our friends a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend!
My favorite picture of the day. This is my beautiful daughter Grace. With her is Norah, who I bought for Grace when she was a young aspiring rider; our first ever horse. New Leaf Farms wouldn't exist without these two. In the background is Sapphire, my newest horse (and arguably my sweetest). And of course, my baby; orphan foal Chance. Even saucy Amy made it in the frame. I love everything about this.
Such a gorgeous day for homeschooling class. We hit the slopes with the goats! The horses loved the show.
We were so lucky to be included in last weekend's photoshoot by Kraken & Crow. It was magical to have the horses included in the shots. Now you have a chance to make magical memories as well!
Feeling a bit emo today. Chance is a typical teenager. #minihorse #hoodieseason
A pretty great day on the farm. First we had an amazing photoshoot with Kraken & Crow. Several families enjoyed the magic of the farm and horses as they captured memories. Then we had 2 new hatchlings to welcome. Best day ever!!

Ah, beautiful fall has arrived.
All this mess for one little cut. Only Caleb is capable of this kind of chaos!

Please be selfish and keep illness at home. We ask that all clients and their families contact us to rebook lessons in the case that they have the sniffles, cough, fever, tummy bug, sore throat, headache or any other symptoms of illness. If clients present at the barn with symptoms, the lesson will be cancelled at that time with no rescheduling or refund. We also ask that all visitors wear masks at all times, with the exception of those actively riding- even in the arena. With the increased levels of contact due to school and work, we need to be extra cautious to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Look at these Fancy feet! Andis is back to work after 2.5 months off. He is looking good, feeling good and ready for riding
