Unbelievably proud of my student Gregory Vandikas who has just today been awarded the National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music for the Licentiat...e Diploma. Its an incredible honour for Greg, who joins his older brother Anthony, in being honoured so. A big congratulations go out to Sheila and George Vandikas for their love and incredible support of their children, and their contributions to the cultural fabric of the GTA. I would also like to profoundly thank all of the festival and recital coordinators over the years who have provided such incredible steppingstone opportunities for Greg along the way. It most definitely takes a village!! Wishing Greg all congratulations and continued success as he marches through first year B Mus studies on full scholarship at McGill. #skyisthelimit.

The Newmarket Lions Club would like to welcome our new Festival Administrator, Deirdre Lawrence! Dee has an Hons. Bachelor of Music degree and Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Western. She brings her experience as a teacher with the YDSB and her many accomplishments as singer, performer, conductor, music teacher, and music studio operator to her role as Music Festival Administrator!

The dates are set for next year...venues are booked. Mark your calendars. The Newmarket Lions Club Music Festival will be held from April 9 to April 27, 2018 at the New Hope Methodist Church in Newmarket. The Festival of Stars is set for Sunday, May 27 at 1:00pm in the Newmarket Old Town Hall.
