New Song Counselling 30.06.2021

Father’s Day can be hard. Many of you have been on my mind as I thought of why Father’s Day may be difficult this year. Especially on my heart are those whose wounds are still healing from their relationship with their dad. You’re seen today. This poem was written by Aundi Kolber, a therapist whom I have respect and appreciation for. I trust her words may be a balm to your soul. ... You are not the words spoken over you in anger. You are not the shame you were given. You are not too much. You are not too little. You are not other’s mistakes. You are not the mistakes you’ve made. You are not the trauma you’ve lived. You are not the trauma in your body. You, magnificent you, are the gorgeous handprint of a God who loves you madly. You are the resilient, fireball who is still here; who hasn’t given up. You are the valuable soul who is in process. You are cared for + known. You are deserving of kindness + worth second chances. You are worth dying for. You are right on time for your redemptionnot early + not late. You, magnificent you, are beloved. Grace + Peace, Aundi Aundi’s entire blog post can be viewed here. https://aundikolber.com/2018-6-14-when-the-wound-heals-fat/

New Song Counselling 24.11.2020

We are several weeks into lockdown or shelter-in-place due to the global pandemic that invaded our lives in March. The impact has been personal and far-reaching. It has been welcomed for some and heartbreaking for others. As I read this article by Gabrielle Treanor I appreciated her diagram of the 3 stages of pandemic response and found myself relating to aspects of each one. You may find that you can relate as well. If we can understand now some of what we are experiencing ...with our feelings and emotions, even noticing our physiological responses, and share them with those we trust, it will ease the burden and provide support for ourselves as we support others during this challenging time. If it becomes overwhelming for you or someone you know, please feel free to reach out to me to schedule an appointment, or for a free 20 minute consult at: [email protected]. https://gabrielletreanor.com/3-stages-of-pandemic-response/

Each of us are experiencing a level of grief as we navigate this global pandemic that we never expected to touch so close to home. Understanding our grief will enable us to support one another as we mourn and move towards healing, and lessen the impact during this challenging time. This article by Dr. Wolfelt helps to understand grief and the importance of mourning and connecting with one another through this time. https://www.centerforloss.com/2020/04/pandemic-of-grief/

Life has changed suddenly and quickly for all of us in the past few weeks as we have collectively faced both the threat and reality of Covid-19. There has been loss and with loss comes the emotion of grief. Dr. Alan Wolfelt compassionately explains the emotion of grief and the six needs of mourning that accompany it. As we mourn we heal, and we can come through this uncertain time changed, and experience post-traumatic growth. https://www.centerforloss.com/2020/03/coronavirus-six-needs/
