A new public policy offers a pathway to permanent residence for eligible families of Canadian victims of the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 and Ukraine Internati...onal Airlines Flight 752 tragedies. The policy applies to individuals who are currently in Canada and whose relatives were Canadian citizens, permanent residents or foreign nationals found eligible on their permanent residence application. The Sault Community Career Centre has been welcoming newcomer families and individuals since 2015. Many newcomers have been forced to leave their countries, homes, extended families, friends and all that is familiar to move to Canada. Our volunteers have helped many of them with the changes and challenges they face in learning a new language and integrating into a new culture by sharing their time, energy, knowledge and skills. In doing so, our volunteers have helped strengthen our community and have created lasting friendships with these families and individuals. They have contributed to the success of our work with newcomers, and during this National Volunteer Week we celebrate their kindness and generosity. #VolunteersBringChange #NationalVolunteerWeek #NVW2021 #grateful
